As we can't advertise, ('cos Danny says so), I thought I'd ask if anyone else was going to a certain gathering of old aeroplanes this coming weekend, and if so, how about a forum meet at the tent?

Please note that I don't mean the event on Saturday that we are allowed to mention, but the one that we can't mention, even though they are both great collections of British heritage.....???

Zlin526.

Come on, come out of the closet, just say it, just say the place you mean, if you don't say it everone might end up at Heathrow for the massive fly-in they have there every day of the year.

Come on Mods, have a larf.

;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I'd love to, only I have to be at another secret location - awright twist me arm it's Worthing. But I can't be at any event in deepest darkest Bedfordshire sadly.

But why don't we organise a London-ish event of a beerish nature shometime shoonisht? I shound more like Shorn Connery every day... or is it Beery Coronary?

Can we talk about it now it's over? Got there at around 1300 local and saw the Vimy take-off, only allowed to do one fly-past by the CAA which was a shame. There then followed some fine displays by various DH aircraft. Unfortunately the kids weren't so interested as I'd hoped and we left before the end. Shame because the weather was fantastic. Hopefully someone's got some shots to share as I didn't get any.

Has it always been £15 per person to get in?

You may indeed talk about it. If anyone has any pictures please place them here.

Brabazon, no it hasn't always been £15. It used to be £5 for a car-load. Apparently the reason for the increase was due to the fact that the admission fee this year included entry to the House which wasn't the case previously.

Ozplane, thanks.

I did think that it was a bit expensive. I understand that we could have gone round the house, but perhaps next time they could offer a discount off the house admission and reduce the entrance fee.

Anyone got any photos?

If someone can point me in the right direction on how to post photos-I would be happy to do so. Tried a search but couldnt find any link. Dont expect Man-on-the fence quality though!

Try putting your pics in www.photobucket.com but please remember that the sizing should be no more than 700 x 600.

Halcyon Days.

Smashing pictures, Tick VG, it looked a nice day out.

Haven't been for a few years, do they still have the vintage vehicle rally and the big autojumble, they used to have it at the same time as the DH Club at the top of the hill overlooking the aircraft.

Peter.

Moderator(s), why have you changed the subject title of this thread? It was "Secret Events", and I was trying to make a point about the fact that mentioning certain events (i.e Woburn) was forbidden, yet mentioning Shuttleworth events was encouraged......

Zlin

I asked for the change in title so at least people know what it's about and can comment on the actual event. I think we've made the point about the post removals!

I went on Saturday with Chippy G-BCSL. What a super day! Lovely flight down from Scouseport, and joined the Woburn circuit in time to see the Vimy do a fly past.

Not quite as warm darn sarf as oop north that day, but very nice none the less (Sunday looks better in the pix). Woburn Moth Rally is the only event I've attended where there really is such a thing as a free lunch (and free afternoon tea as well!) for visiting pilots. Loads of interesting aeroplanes, including the replica Vimy (airside, we could walk right up to and around it) and dH types of every description.

Even better flight home with unlimited viz and a few clouds way above our level. Cricket on village greens, combines working the fields, gliders working the thermals, Pendelinos snaking along the West Coast Main Line, miles of standing traffic on the M6 (snigger!), cows heading home for milking, and the wonderfully patchworked English countryside of golds, browns, and greens of high summer.

Thanks dH Moth club. A great day out. :ok:

SSD was that you I heard talking to Cranfield around 12:00 ish? I was heading North to collect a box of Cirrus bits and saw all the lovely little Mothy things on the ground at Woburn. Yes, I was aware it was happening! One of the Rush Green Moths was there, G-APLU.

In the fifth photo there are some camoflaged noses peeking out from behind the red Steiglitz(??) that look quite Auster-like. I didn't realise that non-dH types (apart from rarities) were invited to the hallowed grounds of Woburn?

No, the last unit I talked to before Woburn Wireless was Coventry. Saw a PA38 doing a bomber circuit for Cranfield, though - well to the west of the M1, shortly before we joined the Woburn circuit.

I had the good fortune to be at the Moth meeting on Saturday and this is just to congratulate the Moth Club and Stuart with his Wife and Daughter in particular on a well run event. I am resident in Australia and when I requested an extra dinner place they went out of their way to help me.

The aeroplanes were superb from the "honest" tiger to the pristine Dragon.

At some time I hope I can repay their kindness.

Congratulations and best wishes to all concerned.

Must have been another Chippie-holic then!

There must have been some interesting landings in the crosswind?

Nope, I was there all weekend, the standard of flying was the best I've seen for some years.

Of course there were a few exceptions...
