In the similar vain to management speak, check out whats going on at aphrodite's Isle:

What was Admin Wg: Admin Support Unit!

What should be Eng Wg: Cyprus Service Support Unit (roughly translates as Army encroachment thru the back -door, and is not even commanded by the Staish!! (Force Troops))

what should be MT: Transport Support Unit!

417 Maritime: Army blokes in boats driving over civillians. (doesn't quite make the news like "Boyfriend kills girlfriend in Jet Ski horror")

the Staish here is the last at Gp Capt level.

Hmmm........"This is the Army Barracks Akrotiri DATIS timed at 0350Z........"

Depends what you mean by sold off.

As it does not actually belong to either RAF TLB then it doesn't belong to the RAF anyway - or the Army. It, alongside Gib and MPA belongs to CJO.

Now we have already 'sold off' Benson, Odiham and Aldergrove to the Army. The first 2 to HQ LAND (through JHC) and the latter to HQ NI (though that will eventually be subsumed into LAND). Not only are the RAF tenants there, but the Army also owns the SH aircraft. They do, however, kindly let us paint Royal Air Force onto the side of them. Isn't that nice.

On the plus side the JNBC Regt is now part of STC so we 'own' all of the 2RTR's special vehicles - which is nice. And STC also 'own' the Sea Harrier Fleet - but they let the FAA paint Royal Navy on the side.

Always remember purple is a deeper shade of green.
