U.S. Embassy and all consulate offices closed in Saudi Arabia.
On CNN and FOX News over here in the U.S. are announcing that the US. Embassy and all consulates have been closed in Saudi Arabia until further notice due a real and credible threat.
The TV news networks are also reporting that British intelligence has informed the Saudi government that there is an eminent attack by terrorists in Saudi Arabia. It has also been reported that the Australian government has issued warning to all Australian citizens to limit or stop any plans concerning travel to Saudi Arabia.
Is it possible that extreme Moslems are using the death of King Fahd as an excuse to overthrow the ruling family? What are you folks hearing in Europe about these stories?

It is being covered on the news channels here, but little more gen than you have, don't think its their way to come out in the open and mount a challenge, they would get their arses kicked, unless the military changes sides of course.
U.K. Warns Britons of Possible Terror Attacks in Saudi Arabia
Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The U.K. today warned that terrorists in Saudi Arabia may be in ``the final stages of planning attacks,'' and advised Britons to keep a ``high level of vigilance'' in the Middle Eastern kingdom.
Recent attacks in Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil producer, have included kidnappings, truck bombings of residential compounds and government offices, and attacks on shopping areas and using parcel bombs, the U.K. Foreign Office said in an advisory posted on its Web site.
``There are credible reports that terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks,'' the Foreign Office said in the advisory. ``We continue to believe that terrorists are planning further attacks in Saudi Arabia, including against Westerners and places associated with Westerners. We believe aviation interests remain a possible terrorist target.''

This is not an unusual precaution and has been put into effect many times over the last 4 years or so.

All the Princes (the ones that count) have delayed coming out to their yachts in the Med. where their crews have been awaiting their imminent arrival for weeks now. It's rumoured that some Princesses and lesser family members have arrived (or are due to) but the big'uns are all staying home for now... :}
Of course, this could merely have something to do with negotiations over control of purse-strings etc. in view of recent events. On the other hand, if the wives and family alone come out in large numbers, it could also signal impending danger of another sort... :uhoh:
My 2 cents worth... ;)
Things are starting again just when we thought it was getting a little stable.
My family is out of the Kingdom now and I wont allow them to return until this improves, if ever.
The stress that this causes on the innocents and families is getting to be too much.
On the last attack on the US consulate here in Jeddah the local newspaper Arab News was front page headlines.
" They Got In"
Was this intended to be read like a suprise or joy?
I think we are all getting a little tired of these fanatics no matter where they come from.
Even the locals have had enough!
I doubt these bearded wonders would ever be able to handle anything if all the westerners left.
Really sad.
Its a known fact that they cannot read and comprehend anything.
