Mrs J and I are making the yearly pilgrimage to Brisbane in January. Binos and I have decided we're going to meet up sometime in the second week (haven't really decided on a date or venue yet).

Here's your invite...............

Sounds good Airway.

I've posted this in Jet Blast, but I'll put it here as well.

NOW HEAR THIS

Date: Saturday, January 14 2006

Location: The Pineapple Hotel, 706 Main St, Kangaroo Point, 4169 Phone: (07) 3393 1111 - You don't like it, tough. I haven't been there for ages.

Time: 1230ish

Head upstairs to the balcony off Joe's Bar. You're looking for the table with the Australian and Canadian flags (and 2 of the least tanned people there. Fricken winter in the Northern Hemisphere)

Stick it in your diary, write it on your wall. This is not open to negoiation ;)

(I have also mentioned any references to my MIL in front of my wife will lead to the offender being thrown off the balcony)

Don't think that I can make that event Jerricho. I'm hoping to be in Oz for my annual Christmas/New Year break, but expect to be back at work before 14 January. I expect, however, that GoGirl will be there, so will ensure that she has possession of the Bash Register for the occasion! :ok:

Not I Kaptin, I'll just ring up my daughter to come and pick me up. :8

Funny, that door doesn't look familiar. There was certainly nothing pink, watermelon, puce, or mushroom about the place when I used to visit. Navy blue singlets, perhaps. I suspect that wearing a pink shirt in those days would have taken considerably more bravery than I possessed. I only walked in there with my long blonde hair* (!!) because everybody else in my group had long hair too.

* (If anybody wants to PM me the way to post a jpg here I'll prove it to you!)

I'm working on producing a VERY distinctive polo shirt especially for the day. Nobody should be in any doubt about my identity. :E

Book seats for Aus Open... under control as we speak

Don't worry about the older generation, young fella. Kaptin M and I will be there with bells on, it's up to you young whippersnappers to follow Jerricho's lead and

I'm coming to Melbourne early in January and if I can get away i will come up to Brisbane, can I just turn up or do I need an invitation??
Also what is the easiest way to Kangaroo point from the airport? I've looked on wotif.com.au and their seems to be plenty of places to stay. How many days does a bash last and how long does it take the average bloke to recover? just thinking how long to stay..

OzExpat
24th Nov 2005, 06:28
1DC... If you read back over the last couple of pages, you'll find that this is likely to be a pretty snoozy bash. Doubt that you'd even need to stay overnight, but I suppose that depends on how you react after about 2 beers? :}

Sorry, 1DC, don't often visit here because it's a fait accompli. It's just a pissup. If you're a Ppruner you're welcome, simple as that. Kangaroo Point is probably a $25 taxi fare from the airport, and you're right, heaps of accommodation available around the area.

All the details you need to find us are written earlier in the thread. Jerricho and Kaptin M and I will be there having a few ales. Might even be a few others too; we don't care really! Love to see a foreign visitor if you can make it, but we won't hold you to it. If we have a good enough time, a recovery session will probably be organised for the Sunday.

Did a reconnaissance mission yesterday with B1. A little yuppie for my taste, but the beer is cold and reasonably priced. What else matters?

And on that note, it's into the shower, grab the Pprune Bash Register, phone, camera etc, and off to the Pineapple.

I will make my first task a beer for each of those missing in action. Could be a long day. :uhoh:

Alas, I must admit, GG I think kinda explained to Bino's my feeble excuse for non attendance .. :( pity it wasn't today or tomorrow or anytime time within the next 14 days ... ) I love my job .. I love my job .. I love my job .. perhaps if I say it often enough, I'll convince myself it is worthy of having it, despite the rest of my life! :sad:

If nobody turns up, what do you expect photos of? :} On the bright side Kaptin, all those who turned up stayed to the end. I would have been very lonely without Jerricho's extended family but after all, that's all it was meant to be, right?

Can't post the photo/s until I get home to my lappy. Struggling by on limited poota access and off to Melbourne tomorrow (today) for the tennis.

Jerricho, delighted to meet you at last, and most of your family. We'll do it again sometime, and next time we won't bother asking anyone to join us! :ok:

I spent that entire weekend driving all around Brissie looking for a place to bloody rent, so I'd like to see the evidence (devastation?) to consol my poor sober heart!:D

Got that picture yet Binos?

Hope you enjoyed the tennis mate :ok:

Well, a small logistical problem here. A complete unpack when I got home failed to turn up my camera, so I am in the process of trying to track it down and have it delivered. Stay tuned.
(Relax, Go Girl, the Bash Register is in safe hands, even if the overall intelligence level wasn't added to at the Pineapple!) ;) I'm proud to be the temporary holder of such a historical document; just let me know where it's to be passed on next. :ok:

G'day Binos. I might be wrong but I can't think of any commitments for it until July/August/September with me, in the UK. For now, just send it back to GG as she's been delegated responsibility for it while it's in Oz. :eek: ;)

Well, it's official. Tragically, the four photos taken at the Pineapple have disappeared, together with the camera in which they waited patiently to be displayed. As I am a trusting soul I prefer to think that my humble 2MP Fuji digital did not present such a massively attractive target as to inspire QF baggage snatchers to, err, snatch it. :uhoh: I prefer to think that being digital, it followed the well worn path of emails, files and address books by simply disappearing into the ether. Bugger.

Back to ebay for an el-cheapo replacement. :{
