The DNS provided by my isp seems erratic and unreliable. Anyone know the addresses of any free public servers i can use instead?

Thanks

You could try this ;

Granite Canyon - Public DNS (http://soa.granitecanyon.com/)

Their DNS servers ns1.granitecanyon.com and ns2. translate to 205.166.226.38 and 69.67.108.10 respectively.

Can't say I've used it but it seems to test out OK by forcing DHCP to use those addresses for DNS vs. my ISP - TCP/IP properties in Control Panel for your Internet connection if running Windows. A little slower perhaps.

I feel sure someone will have a better/alternative solution.

Set up your own - the Treewalk DNS server is free
