View Full Version : Losing Ethernet signal

I keep losing my BT connection via my Voyager 205 Modem router.

I've noticed that of the 3 lights that are on (power, DSL and ethernet), it's the ethernet light that goes off when I am 'disconnected'.

I've tried new ethernet cables but to no avail.

What could be cauing the loss of signal if the problem lies with the ethernet?

I know it seems silly and not strictly the same snag, but I had a similar problem a while ago, new network, 3 confusers hooked up then the odd "A network connection is disconnected" with lights flashing etc. I reinstalled a couple of times then for some reason checked the volts and they were way down! A third party unit fixed it and even drives a radio as well!
Just a suggestion!

So the problem looks like it lies with the router?

I was thinking of putting a wireless router in place instead for the home network, but wasn't going to do it if there was something wrong with the line!

Sorry, Joe
Maybe I wasn't clear. In my case the mains power transformer wasn't giving out 9 volts as it said on the box. More like 6 so there just wasnt enough juice for the unit. Nothing wrong with the ethernet once I replaced the transformer.
And this was before I discovered the joys of broadband!
