Sorry guys to post in english as my italian is very poor. I'll be in Rome for 2 days doing an assessment in Alitalia simulator for another company and was wondering if someone could steer me to a nice and cheap place close to the trainning center.

Gracie mile

HI 3HOLER,
THERE'S NOT REALLY ANYTHING CLOSE THAT WOULD BE CHEAP AND NICE. THERE'S A TRAIN DECENT SERVICE FROM ROME TERMINI (CENTRAL STATION) TO FIUMICINO AIRPORT THEN IT'S 10 MINUTES WALKING DISTANCE TO ALITALIA TRAINING CENTER. YOU MIGHT STAY IN ROME IN CHEAPER HOTELS AND TAKE THAT 30 MINUTES TRAIN.
CIAO AND GOOD LUCK

hi 3holer
there are some hotels near the airport, in fiumicino or ostia lido but there are no pubblic transports from the airport to these towns so you will have to use taxi that can be expensive. However if you have a local friend who wants to take you and pick you from there by car you can go in a hotel in fiumicino (fiumicino is really less than 5 minutes by car, ostia lido is also very close but can take up to 30 minutes due to traffic) I will PM you the name of a hotel in fiumicino but I don't know if it can be considered inexpensive.
However if you choose to commute using train as suggested by bufe you don't need to walk from the train station to the alitalia training center, you can use the free shuttle bus to the free outdoor car parkings, there is a service every 20 minutes I think, just ask the driver to point you to the stop closest to the training center and then it's just 50 meters from there. About the train you should better consider the metropolitan FM1 service rather than the direct service to termini station, it is more frequent and inexpensive and it stops at many stations so you have a wider choose of hotels in rome, for example you can try to find an accomodation near trastevere or ostia stations but I can't give you any advise about this. try this link for the trainn service, click on the traing number to see all the stations in which it stops.http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/TimeTable?stazin=fiumicino+aeroporto&stazout=roma+tiburtina&datag=08&datam=07&dataa=2005&timsh=09&timsm=10&lang=en&nreq=5&channel=tcom

Transports: if you want, you can give it a try on http://www.sixti.it
They have very good fares for renting a Smart, and you pick up the car just inside FCO terminal building. Depending on how much in advance you book (and pay), prices can go as low as 5-10€ per day. It's a lovely alternative to taxiing and this way you can go messing around by yourself :ok:

Just a tip :}
