I'm going to be on holiday near the Technik Museum, Speyer in Germany soon.

Has anybody been before? Is it worth a visit or is the museum at Sinsheim better?

More importantly, which one will keep the kids occupied for longer!

Cheers

I have not been there myself but my Brother has.
He was only there for a day and could not see everything that was available.
There are all types of vehicles to look at such as Fire Engines, then the aircraft with the ex Lufthansa 747 being very good he told me and a Submarine to investigate as well.
Have a good one.

If you can, do them both. The kids'll enjoy them

Speyer Technik is fabulous. Allow at least half a day. Loads to see. The 747 on a stick is fun, especially the helter skelter. You can walk out on the wing. Visiting aircraft park is a few minutes stroll away. Airport caff is very good. Enjoy!

Both are worth visiting just for the aviation displays and have plenty for children.

Sinsheim has more cars whilst Speyer has more naval exhibits as I recall.

Many fairly rare types at both with lots of long slides out of static exhibits.

Crampons may be useful to get to the cockpit of Sinsheim's Tu-144!

I also strongly recommend both. Both very interesting and not just for the aircraft.

Visiting the Concorde and especially the Tu-144 in a strong wind is rather an odd and offputting experience but fun. Try and visit on a weekday though to avoid the queues.

Enjoy it.

Yip.

I have been there. Enjoyed it unfortunately temperature was about -5'c and it was windy so it was COLD.

Some of the settings where quite spectacular like the LH B747 "Classic" mounted high above the grounds, guess the bottom of the rear fuselage sits at about 100ft or so? Not only do they have all things aviation, but lots of naval stuff ( few submarines) cars and steam locomotives like I had never seen before. A beaurifully restored ME109 crowned the whole show.

It was definately worth a visit. There is another related exhibition that boasts both TU144 and Concorde jets side by side for an easy comparison. Worth while as visit as well.

I was in Speyer Nov 2002, when the 747 was still ´under construction´. Very interesting, some rare birds like the Mercure or the VFW 614. Unfortunately some planes looked more like a junkyard than a museum.
I visited Sinsheim some years back in the 90´s, and even without the Supersonic Transports it was a very impressive Museum.

Both highly recommended

I'm not much of a museum person but both are worth a visit. If you don't have that much time, then probably Speyer is better.
