Cargo door opening

Does anybody know the date/flight number/venue and/or airline to whom this occurred?

Why?

oh yes, sorry, I forgot where I was.

In any event, that's not a cargo door, it's the flight trials of a new roll augmentation device.

I believe this is a Convair 880 (?) coming in to MIA in the late 70s.

The cargo door opened at a sufficiently low altitude to be able to recover. A safe landing was carried out.

This looks a lot like a photo from American Aviation Historical Society journal - late 70's? I believe it was a CV880 @ MIA.

A bit breezy, eh.

Gents, it is a strech 8 !
Some american carrier (can't remember the name) took off without securing the cargo door. Returned without further complications (save the extensive paperwork).
