I wonder if one of you fellows could help a slightly bewildered Pommie.

I'm trying to find out which universities in Oz offer aerospace Engineering degrees - and all the usual search engines seem completely unable to tell me.

Can anybody tell me, or point at a list?

Cheers,

G

GTE,

Not too much info here but at least it's a start:

UNSW Handbook (http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/specialisations/2005/AerospaceEngineering.html)

Genghis,
Have'nt actually attended any, but you could try here (http://www.rmit.edu.au/) and here (http://www.kangan.edu.au/) or maybe even here (http://www.deakin.edu.au/) .
If you can't find what your looking for at these 3 places, I am sure they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Cheers, HH.

Interesting.

Whilst I was just updating a personal directory, given that Oz does actually design and build aeroplanes and engines (and fairly well from what I can see), as well as the rest of a reasonably healthy aerospace industry - there's not a lot there is there?

By comparison there are 20-30 institutions in the UK offering degrees and doing research in aerospace engineering. OK, our industry is a bit bigger than yours - but not 10 times bigger.

Are you fellows missing something? Pure curiosity here.

Genghis,

Just to put things in perspective, I know 3 blokes who did Aeronautical Engineering at the University of NSW, and all of them are now working in fields outside of aviation. Only one of them worked in Aero after graduating, but like the others he has now found a hell of a lot more money and better job satisfaction in other mechanical engineering fields as well as mining (a huge bloody industry here).

Cheers,
TL

Well, that's fair; I suppose that about 90% of aero graduates here end up working outside of aeronautics.

Then again, that's probably true of most degree courses.

Genghis,

RMIT, Monash Unii, Sydney Uni, Uni of NSW and Adelaide Uni.

RMIT puts out about 100 p.a., not sure about the others offhand.

With Dr DEATH there, can you blame them?
