I have a question from someone on another board.

Are Inter Air in Jo'burg still operating 707s on passenger flights, and if so which of the ones in their timetable are so operated.

http://www.interair.co.za/timetable.asp

They have been unable to get a reply from the operator.

Thank you.

Last year all their 707's were sitting on the ground in Pietersburg (sorry Polokwane ;) ) in various states of disrepair. Only 727 and 737 in scheduled use...
hope that helps

Working for Tokoph is not very pleasant as he does not play by the rules. I would suggest if you are planning to make a career out of it, then forget it. If it is merely a stepping stone, then go for it, you could do worse!?

Interair.... tread with caution

Well all i can say is things must have changed.........

As for the best airline in the southern Hemisphere, dont think so!!!

When i worked there, we were always struggling with spares. Maintanence wasn't good in my opinion.

If you dont mind flying overloaded Aircraft and being bullied by the top brass that if you refuse " You will regret your decision" then you will fit right in.

Like i say thing could have changed, can only tell it like it was when i was there.

wonder why you left inter air or is it better to say they left you.
Ive worked for Inter Air a very long time and its never been like that. they never force you to go over wieght.
they just tell you to do what the book says.
just that some people dont know how to read.

Please help! I need some info about working for Interair. I got a call for FO on the 732. But the base would be out of Benin, not South Africa.

Should I take it? Any advice? Why in Benin and not in South Africa? Thanks in advance. Any info would be highly appreciated.

Guys guys guys ! Get a hold of yourselves.

See the light. Inter Air....

FACTS:
-8% salary increase in over 4 years.
-Aircraft under maintained. Fact...
-High staff turnover (tells you about a company)
-Top class South African pilots all left due to working conditions.
-Company now looking abroad for cheap labour/foreign pilots willing to work for food and eat S#%T
-Hotel accomodation provided in Africa is way below standard. Even put into un-hygienic appartments at times.
-Poor crew per diem. When day off away from base, no crew per diems paid and you are on standby for flights.
-Operate to the book...Yeah right "SOP's" ( Supplementary Operating Procedures)

Four engine jock states "worked for inter air for a very long time" What a looser. Probarbly cant get work else where or is too far up the chairmans .... to see the light.

Check out a Google search "David Paul Tokoph" and you will see what you are up against. He may not be doing that anymore but shows the type of man you will be working for. (A Leopard never changes its spots)

I would not recommend this company to anyone other than young aviators going in with low experience to get a rating, build up some "Jet time" and move on. This is no career company...

This website is for like minded crew to be able to communicate with each other and find out about companies so they are not misled.

Put your ego's aside and be honest about inter air.

Its time company's start to treat crew with respect. Lets teach them....

it seems to me that not everyone knows what airlines in south africa pay!!!!!!

Nationwide and Interair pay about the same at the end of the month. And at Nationwide you work twice as hard. At Interair you lucky if you work 12 days a month. CANT SAY THAT ABOUT NATIONWIDE.

All you people that put down Interair have no ideal what your talking about.

four engine jock = three engine switch flicker..

At Nationwide you fly twice as much, which is what pilots do.
We have 737-300's and a 767 and getting 2 more 76's. Some thing to work towards.

Aircraft are by far in better condition.

You still think you are a pilot.... Wishfull. Flighty's are a dying breed.

A life I have , you should invest in one yourself , its great.

As for the hosties, like Cuban cigars, you like them Big or Brown.

If its money you want guys, look at 1 Time.
They fly DC9's and MD 80's. Lots of flying and lots of money.

Interesting reading. A lot of truth spoken here.

Hey , I worked at Inter for many years. Did it all (exept the 7 nothing 7). Had a grr8t time. :D

Inter Air in the beginning was a fantastic company. Went through many ownership changes. Sadly it is not the same. Thats why so many people left, even the Ops manager. Great loss. This tells you about a company.

To many " Self Appointed " Chief's and not enough Indian's at the moment.

As for the salary..... Check out climbto350 , Captain 727 $4000pm. It seems this forum helped. Its great that the guys are not going to accept low pay. Well done ! ! !

Thats why we became drivers, to fly and make chellos"

challengeall:

Yes I fit right in there. Obviously you didn't read what I posted. I said for the amount of work we do, I think we get paid very well. What's wrong with sitting by the pool, getting 51.500CFA's (100 $) for 2 days in the hotel, to be used for what you want, ie a couple of longnecks by the pool and getting 80rand SNT? The 51.500 is not cash, but you sign for meals/drinks in the hotel.

Interiar is not Air France, Interair doesn't operate heavy equipment worldwide, making reasonable good profits, therefore able to pay crews 100$ and high paid salaries, which is a must in the ever getting more expensive Europe. Please don't even try to compair Interair with Air France, or South Africa to Europe.

As I posted before, don't apply for Interair if you think the salary is low, it's up to each individual to take the job or not.

Not sure how many replies you are going to get!

My advice - GIVE IT A MISS!!!! There are so many reputable companies looking for drivers - do not waist your time:suspect:

Oh they'll take you with a type rating and no hours on type. Then they'll send you on contract, somewhere nice like Chad, pay you peanuts and scare you a bit too for good measure. Thats not 2nd hand advice, thats from the horses mouth. So if you want an informed opinion, give it a miss
