Has anyone converted JAA ATPL recently ( or recognition , if this is possible?) or has any advice which route is best. CAA or CASA to speak to first?? rough cost and time scale?? Aussie visa will be sorted through the ball and chain, any other tips greatly received.

Cheers

747,

The process will involve two air law exams, and a instrument rating exam. These exams are mainly air law.

Details for the exmas (http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/exams/cyber/convexam.htm)

Other details for conversion (http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/exams/cyber/convexam.htm)

A number of schools do these reguraly, go to one that does. The instrument rating exam needs some study, doing a course would be recommended, the other airlaw exams can be studied and passed by home study.

Another link (http://www.aviationshop.com.au/avfacts/aaos_info.htm) has some details of a course that is available and recommended study material, and regulations. A google search for "Overseas Licence Conversion" in Australia will bring up a number of schools that do this.

:ok:
