Is anyone going to wonderful Uganda? I've not been there for 18 months and really would like to know how things are right now there. I know all the hotspots and the places to be. If you want to know or can update me, put it down here or email me.
Kampala is a great place and there is life beyond the Sheraton. I know BA crews did frequent my local called "Just Kicking". I'd love to know if that's still the case and what it's like now.

Dave Woods from the Lake Vic Hotel in Entebbe used to run a barbecue every Friday evening. Usually quite staid but if you can round up the right people and get Dave to sing it can go on a while. Be aware the situation can end up in the pool or on the high diving board. This can be pretty hairy if you're not rowing with both oars.

Skybiter, are you still going there these days? I've not been there for a bit and don't remember Dave, or any wild goings on come to think of it. My only advice if you are is -stay well clear of the "Nile Special" especially if you're on medication. Stick to "Guiness -The Power".

Prefer Bell's and Nile Pilsner myself. Keep well away from the Waragi. It's a banana gin and good value for money but horrendous toilet hugging hangovers are in store.
Another thing to try is the white water rafting with Nile River Explorers in Jinja. They're a bunch of South Africans and it's a truly amazing ride. The grand finale is a barbecue and ice cold beer on the banks of the river. An American operation also works the area but not as much fun as the South Africans, but, hey I'm biased.

Sky...I agree with your views on the old Waragi -it can cause you trouble, the worst one though is the illegally produced waragi as it's probably mostly meths. I think that cost about 500USH per half bottle -talk about blind drunk.
I know a few people who've done the white water rafting (and got broken ribs etc). If it wasn't in Africa I don't think the thing would be allowed, but it was supposed to be so good.....Maybe next time I'm there.
Sky, did you go to any of the bars and pubs in Kampala? Some of the clubs were good -like "Silk" or "Al's Bar". But if you stand on your own for more than 20 seconds you get two girls or more all over you.
The best place for a few pubs and a good night out is Kisimenti or Wandageya.

I've met Skybiter and he's one of the ugliest human beings I've seen. It weighs about 300 pounds, stands over six feet and has a face like a dog's bum wearing a wig.
Unfortunately his girlfriends like him but no one knows why. As for the bar girls trying it on, there's more chance of growing horns.
By the way, there's a really nice Chinese restaurant just up the road from the Lake Vic Hotel. Looks pretty dingy from the outside but the Hot and Sour soup is good enough to run a 747 on.

Stick it up your bottom and break it off, Short Boy.
Give us a call when you get back in town and we'll discuss this over beers like uncivilised people.
