Hi,
I am currently trying to decide where exactly to do my IR.Some schools boast of having an fnpt2 sim where as others only have and fnpt1.My question was really just what the main difference between the two is and what the advantages/disadvantages are.
For instance can u log them same amount of sim time on a "1" as u can on a "2"?

Many thanks

The difference is the amount of sim time that can count towards the IR training.

In an FNPT1, you can only complete 25 hours of training towards an IR.
In an FNPTII, you can complete 40 hours of training towards the IR.

I have quoted times related to a ME(IR), but take 5 hours off for a SE(IR).

I've just finished my IR with 25 hrs FNPT1 and 25 hrs Duchess. Just my opinion, but the beauty of the sim is you get to learn new things in it and make loads of mistakes before doing it for real in the aircraft. I can't believe that 40hrs in the best sim in the world would prepare you adequately to get it all right in an aeroplane for real though!

On the other hand 25hrs FNPT2 is presumably better than 25hrs FNPT1?

On the other, other hand my school lets students fill their boots with gratis solo practice on their FNPT1, and it was absolutely invaluable. Feel free to PM me if you'd like any more info.
