Was the 787 designed to replace the 767 being a similar type of aircraft as far as range and capacity is concerned? It goes without saying that the 787 is a lot more efficient, with 50% of consisting of composite material. Just wondering...

you're right on the money...it's actually replacing the 57 too(line closed recently after 1,050th bird rolled out).
same fate may await the 67 line if the idiots in washington do the unthinkable and give the tanker contract to airbus...
just wondering if boeing's gonna stick with the diarrhea-brown for the panels:sad:

p.s. it's 45% composites and 5% fiberglass, unless you count the engines

A bit off topic, but fibreglass is a composite. And not by virtue of some strict technical definition, it is well known as a composite material.

Jet Fume Junkie: The bureaucrats in D.C. might order the 330, and cut off their nose to spite their face. And the factory might be at old Brookley Airport, in downtown Mobile, AL.

Let's not forget what the name EADS represents. And the Presidential helicopter fleet won't be built here anymore, based upon recent news. The face you see in the advertising wants you to believe that EADS is from here. One of their main representatives [ I don't know the Smily face for a mercenary]wears a cowboy hat and is from Texas. How very ironic, knowing current events, and the distorted image of Texas overseas. This makes the guy look like even more of a real world-class sucker.

amen io!:O
(btw airboos pilot-is-an-afterthought policy will soon have done away with any kind of overrides, ignition or otherwise:8 )

yep, that 'I AM EADS' loser, path-et-ic
"us101" another example of wool being pulled over people's eyes.
shame on coast guard for flying dolphins, well, shame on the bloodsuckers in dc that will sell their mother for a fat contribution to the re-election chest form EADS, or anybody for that matter

toyota and hyundai have been trying to do that for some time, brag about how many jobs they've created here stateside, blah blah blah...yeah, couple a hundred jobs is a spit in a bucket compared to the revenues you rake in - and that all leaves the country (except for the abovementioned lobby expenditures)
:ok:

stand corrected, mig82, was just summarizing boeing propaganda, can't claim to know the difference, perhaps they meant 5% of "traditional" fiberglass, like stuff boats are made of, and rest the fancy and expensive aluminum substitute:confused:
