Excuse my ignorance but does the newly re-buffed 787 not look more like a slightly rebuffed 777-200??? And to think people are having a go at airbus for simply updating the A330 to make it the A350!!!!

Look under the surface.

Airbus aren't making the A350 almost completely from composites, nor are they pioneering bleedless engines. The 787 is a blank sheet, all new technology aircraft. The A350 will no doubt be a good aircraft, but it is an evolutionary derivative, not a set of brand new technologies.

EDIT: If all you can do is be abusive - you are not going to do it here.

Either join in a debate with something useful to say, which you seem to find difficult, or stay away from it.

As Wizofoz says, what is on the suface does not reflect what is under the surface. Whilst Boeing may have bottled it on the 787 design, not doubt for justifiable aerodynamic reasons, the aircraft is unquestionably "new." A entirely new form of manufacturing, new cabin layout potential and so on.

Thus far, I think people are justified in the Airbus "digs" as the A350 does, in my opinion, appear to be a knee-jerk reaction.

So that's two of us that can respond in an adult fashion!

Excuse my ignorance also!
Where does the 787/dreamliner fit into the current boeing lineup? Is it a direct replacement for a current type 75/76 maybe?
