Does anyone recall a song which includes a lyric something like;

"707 mockingbird gets me down"

I can't find it on any of the lyric sites.

Song title and artist please and your time starts now.

If I don't get an answer, I propose to record it myself and then ask whoever sues me!

Great song but not the one. Peter, Paul and Mary had a hit with it.

One other song that mentions the 707 is "Jet Airliner" by The Steve Miller Band ("but my heart keeps calling me backwards as I get on the 707"). However, the "mockingbird" one continues to elude me, so maybe I am imagining it.

If you are wondering why I need this information, I'm researching a thesis on why Boeing is better than Airbus. Ever heard a song about a 'Bus? ;)

Capt Hollywood was right. "Early Morning Rain" was written by Gordon Lightfoot and not Bob Dylan as I suggested previously. One of the lyric websites attributes the song to Dylan which shows you've got to watch these plagiarist hippies! To be sure, I went through stacks of vinyl, found the PP&M album and it's definitely Gordon Lightfoot.

Thanks for your trouble. I was initially confining my search to the 707 but thanks for adding the ELO 747 song.

Other 747 songs are:

"It Never Rains in Southern California" composed and performed by Albert Hammond. "Got on board a westbound seven forty-seven"

There's a Tom Paxton song 'I lost my heart on a 747'

I don't think the lyrics are Google-able. Remembered excerpts include:

If you're hunting for songs mentioning 'buses, make sure you make a full and detailed look through French songs too.
American songwriters tend to live in America, where American airlines (small 'a') tend to fly Boeings, as Boeing tends to be an American company.
Look around where Airbuses come from, and you might be surprised.

(Or maybe its because its very hard to find a rhyme with "McDonnell-Douglas")

Mystery Solved.

Thanks to the guru at 4KQ in BNE, I now know that I wasn't imagining things. The song is "People Call Me Country" by the late Digby Richards. I'm told it was a hit in 1972. The lyrics still elude me however. I still need the exact lyric that includes "707" and "mockingbird". Anyone out there who likes both kinds of music and has the album?

"Early Morning Rain" was also covered by Elvis, and later by the great Eva Cassidy. I highly recomend Eva's version if your looking for something a little folky but massively soulfull.

I finally tracked down a copy of "People Call Me Country" by Digby Richards. FWIW the actual lyric is:
