The President of Pakistan just landed in a PIA jet a few minutes ago. As she taxied in I was able to notice the cockpit window on both sides carried flags of Pakistan near the Commanders side and the Indian Flag on the other side.

Is this a normal practise ?

The flags would have been put up only after landing proceedures would have been completed right ?

( Moderator, please excuse my impropriety in case this post doesnt belong here but I was in a hurry !! )

Cheers

210 views, no response. Guess everybody is still grappling with the problem.
Meanwhile, the Indian Flag was posted upside down ( inadverdently I'm sure !)

I seem to remember it was the practice in days long gone by to fly flags from cockpit windows when on the groung.

I remember seeing Vikings taxying at Northolt (brakes squealing in true Viking fashion) flying Union Jacks from the cockpit.

However, they were not on show during final approach over my old Aunt's house in Hillingdon, or on climb out, so I would presume it to be at crew's discretion whilst on the ground only.

Did it appear on the after landing check list - throttle back, apply brakes, open cockpit windows, unfurl flags, fly flags?

Perhaps someone knows.
