Call me a dullard, but did the Flying Club at LYE ever get off the ground (no pun intended)? It's just that I have heard / seen very little around the Stn advertising its activities - are they just keeping it quiet?

If it's up and running, what do they have and what do they charge?

I know, no stupid questions, only a stupid questioner.

Yes it did, about 1 1/2-2 years ago. It is called the Lyneham Aviation Centre and have at least one PA28 if not more ac. Not sure of any costs but it would be easy to find out - I know the Education Centre (now called Force something blah) has the details.

Had me confused there for a bit....you mean the "the flying club" and not the "flying club"....that lives in hotels and whines about the quality of everything when deployed.

The club has a PA-28-151, it cost £45 per hour (wet) at the moment (the price varys due to utilisation but not more than a tenner) if you are a junior rank theres an extra discount on top of that.
We have 2 FI's and a CAA Examiner and access to more aircraft if we need them.
The aim of the club is primarily to get serving junior ranks flying, but any service person is welcome.
