Has anyone out there got any information on Regional Air in PNG?????

Has anyone been offered a position after the ad a couple of weeks ago????

Do they look after their crews, aircraft, pay a fair wage etc????

Any views would be appreciated:ok: :ok: :ok:

They're surprisingly not well known amongst oz pilots, mostly because they don't have a web page.

I flew for Regional Air for a few years and I have to say that they're the best operators that I've ever had the pleasure of working for and probably ever will.

They mostly do specialist contract work for multi-national corporations in the mining sector as well as government contracts. They have bases in PNG, looking after Mining, RPT and Charter. The Solomon Islands, Flying military and Fed Police and EMS in New Caledonia (Although you'll need a JAR licence for that one).

They look after their crews. The pay is good, and if you start as an FO the progression is good. The accomodation is good. You get fed on all the bases and the company has a great team spirit. The company invests heavily in check and training, are really pro safety and the Chief Pilot is the best you'll ever meet.

The aircraft maintenance is second to NONE!!. Seriously, the best.

If you've got the hours their asking for I'd say go for it. The biggest problem you'll have is convincing people (and OZ airlines)that your stories are true.

They've been involved in aviation for quite a few years. The father was the TAA agent at Kainantu in the 60's. He was a well respected businessman even in those days.

Is 'Feet' McGrew still the CP...if so I agree, a top fella. Tell him Chuck (Talair/Airlink Rabaul/PX) says hello.

And give Jerry my very best too.

I would guess that it was Gerry Booij (one of the brothers that own Regional) that chimbu was refering to. However it could now also include Gerry Krynen.

Chimbu, Pete is indeed still Chief Pilot and an absolute gentleman.

I must agree with the comments about Pete, just an absolute legend guy. I did my Kingair ground school and endorsment with him in PNG. What he didn't know about the aircraft wasn't worth knowing. Great guy.

Don't recall Gerry B ever being Chief Pilot. I believe he was/possibly still is deputy CP.
