I see that CX 883 LAX-HKG has been making nightly visits this week to either TPE or ICN while CX 881 manages to go non-stop almost every night.

Does CX add more cargo to this flight in particular? When I took the 883 in December, we stopped in TPE. In January on the 883, the flight plan was filed for TPE but we had better winds than forecast so we managed to get in non-stop.

Is the preferred stop in these cases TPE or ICN? I've had the pleasure of both, and if the stop is ICN, it seems that many connections are blown; while if the stop is TPE, most connections are saved.

I'm on the 883 again on Saturday night and would love non-stop, wind permitting...

Is the answer not in your question -
we had better winds than forecast so we managed to get in non-stop and would love non-stop, wind permitting... just a thought.!

OK, then I'll rephrase. ;)

Why does CX 881 go non-stop while CX 883 has to make a stop?

883 has full loads and/or stong winds at that time of day and 881 has lessor loads and/or wind when it departs.
