Request Radio Check... Limits?

What do you use as an acceptable response for a radio check? To date, I’ve been happy with 5 or 4, but will try to rectify something if it is a 3. But what about a 2? Or a 1?

What if the best you can get is a 3, and you’re going into controlled airspace or an MBZ?

Where do you draw the line, and why?

Whilst this (http://www.pgh-net.com/ae3c/rst-signal-reports.html) relates to Amateur radio, it may give you a better understanding of determining signal readability.

I would think that readability less than 3 could constitute a safety hazard.
