For IFR Instructors and Pilots
I am creating an IFR Circling Briefing and will be using two or three DAP plates as examples. Wyndham NDB looks like a hard one WRT obstacle avoidance.
Are there any other challenging approaches that are useful examples?

Billacabella,
I presume this is for a instrument rating training approval qualification, anyway take a look at Hamilton in Vic and Flinders Island in Vic as well.
I would not do the circling approach at Wyndham to start with.

Try Whangarei's NDB/GPS circling approach by night.

Hey S2000, I was going to suggest the same, but figured since the other poster is in Ozmateland they might not care. What a great example though. A huge pucker factor on that approach at night, poor wx, crap viz, Twin NDB/DME approach and that retarded night circling lighting approach that they promulgate. Imagine turning thru 270 degrees away from the runway you only just saw at 1NM to fly a downwind looking for the gate lights at the other end! Good to hear about the straight in GPS approach, about time too.

Some of those approaches look pretty difficult especially flinders island.
Downwind - Yes it is for instrument teaching approval / G1 upgrade.

Take a look at the Cairns NDB/DME approach with circle to land on Runway 33. Big terrain, very close, Long way from threshold when at minima. Right hand, low level circuit etc etc
Have fun

Magenta 17 was always my favourite to circle at night in bad weather. Make sure you can see the flashing light on the left as that is when you have to turn base. Miss it and you are pointed at the hills.
