Does anyone know of a way to improve wireless networking reception on a laptop?. It has an inbuilt wireless card, so there is no accessable antenna.
The room where the wireless router is located is quite well shielded, and there is only a weak signal getting out, and It's not possible for the router to be moved.

I just wondered if there was anything that could be done to the laptop to improve things.

WiFi repeaters exist, at least in the USA. Put one in a place which can see both the router and into the room with the laptop.

Alternatively place the router's antenna (US terminology) where it can be seen in the laptop's room. This will require an extension cable and might end up costing almost as much as a repeater and be a lot more clumsy.

A WiFi repeater is a store and forward device - it receives a packet and then retransmits it. Thus the maximum throughput / speed will only be half as fast as without the repeater. But at least you should be able to communicate.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'll give one of the high gain antenna's a go first to see if it helps.
