Can a JAR type rating be added to a UK CAA licence?

Thanks.

Yes.

If the course is completed at a TRTO approved by a country other than the UK, you will need to submit a copy of the approval certificate with your application. If the LST is conducted by a TRE authorised by a state other than the UK you will need to submit a copy of his/her certificate of authorisation.

Thanks BillieBob - very useful.

Would this mean I'm restricted to 'G-REG' only?

Rgds,

If you really have a UK CAA (i.e. national) licence then any type ratings will be restricted to G-reg only unless validated by the licensing authority of another state. If, however, you have a JAA licence issued by the UK CAA, it should be valid in every other JAA member state's aircraft. I say 'should' advisedly as there are still some states that have a distinctly protectionist attitude towards the mutual recognition required by JAR-FCL.

Thanks again BillieBob,

I must confess I rather dislike negotiating the JAA site for such information... once again a clear & unambiguous answer from PPRuNe. :O

Cheers :ok:
