Hello,
does anybody know what i need to do in order to convert my Italian JAA CPL/IR into a UK CAA one?
I do have 700h TT and 400h multi crew a/c + an FAA CPL/IR.

Thank you,

Spoilermixer.

As you have a JAA CPL/IR you will *not* need to convert to the UK CAA one.

The UK CAA only issue JAA CPL/IR's so it'd be defeating the object.

Just apply to the airlines here in the UK and they'll accept any JAA CPL/IR (well they should anyway).

Charlie Zulu, i was aware of the fact that my JAA licence is recognized in UK. The fact is that the licence has been released by Italian Civil Aviation and Italy doesn't have a good reputation in the JAA environment. I'm trying to get the CAA one to have a better chance to be called at an UK interview.

Look in Section A8 here

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/LASORS2005.PDF

Note this bit:

An applicant may only apply to change the state of
licence issue of a JAR-FCL licence provided that
employment or normal residency is established in that
state. Normal residency means the place where a
person usually lives for at least 185 days in each
calendar year because of personal and occupational
ties or, in the case of a person with no occupational ties,
because of personal ties which can show close links
between that person and the place where she or he is
living.(JAR-FCL 1.070/2.070 refers).
In the event the request is rejected, the original state of
issue will be advised of this and your fee will be
refunded.

Hi Spoilermixer,

Many apologies, I didn't realise the position of Italian JAA licences.

All the best.
