due to an equipment upgrade it looks like I may need a GPS/NPA endorsement on my CIR.

Any recommendations on who does endorsements on Garmin 530's and 430's?

Anywhere between Bankstown and Brisvegas?

Cheers

I think UNSW at Bk may be able to help you out, a few of thier PA28s have 430's, and the BE76 as well i think. The 430 will cover you for the 530 (they are essentially the same unit with different size screens).

You only need to do it in a single even for a MECIR. Fairly straght forward exercise really. Otherwise you can do it on any GPS unit, then do 3 approaches in VMC on your 430/530 and you'll be right also.

The 430 is a great machine. You do know that they are no longer called GPS NPA anymore. They are now RNAV GNSS approaches to conform to ICAO standard.

You can download a GNS 430/530 trainer from the Garmin website. A great training aid..

You can also download the full Pilot Guide in pdf format.

Have both open at the same time. Read a procedure in the manual then practice it on the simulator.

Works a charm!

Thanks ANG and Bill for the download pointers

Done both now and got a grip on the thing (I think).

Now... where do I download a sticky strip from so I can sign myself off? :E :hmm:
