View Full Version : Iron Maiden/PPRuNe Bash - Iceland - 7th June
aztruck 11th Feb 2005, 12:31 :ok: Folks....we have a 757, we have a gig in Iceland, the tickets are held, the inflight entertainment is rocking, and you'll be up in eternal light on June 7th...thats a Tuesday.
The plot is to go out am on the 7th, get there 11ish local, and have all day to hang/blue lagoon it/imbibe whatever, followed by Iron maiden indoors at around 8 ish. Tix will be very close up and personal and post gig bash in downtown excellent Irish Pub.
Leave for airport at 12.30 am in broad daylight and back in Gatwick for around 4.30 ish when trains and tubes are running to get you home.
Thats the plot.
All we need are names to get numbers and then we can price it exactly. This will be on the Maiden board v. soon. The price is estimated at between £250-£300 including Ticket, flight, all taxes and transport Kef to Reykavik.
Once we get an idea of the interest then I can proceed with further negotiations!
Muggins here will be on the pointy end and I would'nt be surprised if we have at least 3 captains on the flight deck as well!!
I'm hoping to sort out a chunk to put into the Prune fund if all goes well.
Tooodleoooo!!
Biggles Flies Undone 11th Feb 2005, 13:37 There's no way I can go without the rest of my mob this time - my kids are huge Maiden fans - and 1,200 schnoots plus HOTAC isn't on :{
Can you give us a clue if there's a chance of a UK gig, Bruce?
fernytickles 12th Feb 2005, 02:45 Yes, I'm in for tickets - 2 definite, probably another 2
I'll provisionally ask for 4 tickets please (dependant on getting time of work etc).
If it's half as good as the Dublin trip this will be well worth it!!
Maniac618 12th Feb 2005, 12:07 Dear all and especially those organising this and needing a head count,
I found out today that I need to put a £290 deposit on a house in Portsmouth that I need to rent for my 2nd year at University. This of course completely takes away the £300 I was going to use for this trip.
I'm completely gutted about this as you can imagine as I was really looking forward to this trip. :(
Looks like I'll see maiden once this tour then, at Reading, and won't get to meet Bruce or any of the other band members again. :(
Have a GREAT time the rest of you, and take loads of pics and movie clips if you can so I can get a taste of what it was like for you.
Once again sorry about this late withdrawal.
Regards,
Chris
AirTrooper 12th Feb 2005, 12:12 Great trip aztruck!
I wish i could come but unfortunately i'll have some hospital problems those days! Enjoy this trip guys!!!
bogcleaner 12th Feb 2005, 13:46 3 please mrs bogcleaner and her french mate (you remember the one!!)
POLISH_EDDIE 12th Feb 2005, 20:57 I'm interested in this trip! I missed the first PPRuNe bash in Dublin and I'll do everything to be there this time! I'd be travelling all the way from EPWA/WAW (Warsaw, Poland :))... I'll need 1 or 2 seats (TBC)... I'll post here soon if I'm 100% going.
BTW I've been reading this forum for quite a long time though I haven't posted here before. So shall I introduce myself? :)
My name's Robert and I'm 20... I'm not a pilot YET though I'm a big civil aviation enthusiast - a plane spotter and I study Aerospace Engineering at Warsaw's Technical University (pretty hard but I'm doing my best ;) ). I hope I can post here from time to time... :)
BTW - I'm already thinking about catching my flight back to Poland after arriving from Iceland on "Bruce Air"... I have 16.20 C0 (Centralwings - LOT's low cost airline) flight from LGW so I think I'll miss this one if we'd arrive at 16.30. :( I also have 19.00 BA flight from LHR but I heard it takes at least about 70 mins to get there from LGW... So do you think I need to stay for night and catch some flight to Poland in the morning? What's the cheapest hotel near LGW?
Also when we'd take-off from LGW on the way to KEF?
I really hope I'll be on board! I'd love to fly 757-200 with Bruce! :D
Hamrah 12th Feb 2005, 21:13 Polish-Eddie et al...
In case you misunderstood Aztrucks (approximate) timings they are as follows.
DEP London Gatwick 09:00 7th June
ARR Keflavik 11:00 (1 hr Time Zone Change)
Dep Keflavik 00:30 8th June
Arr London Gatwick 04:30
So no HOTAC required and I would suggest first flight back to WAW would be best option.
H
POLISH_EDDIE 12th Feb 2005, 21:52 Oh, stupid me! Of course I didn't read it was "am". :oh: ;)
So it's much better then! I'll probably fly to London on Monday, do some sightseeing, spend a night in some hotel near Gatwick then on Tuesday I'm off to Iceland and on Wednesday's morning I'm back in Warsaw. Sounds nice! :D
If everything works out fine, I'm pretty possitive I'm going!
Thanks for help!
Cyrus664 12th Feb 2005, 22:41 Wow! All I can say is WOW!
The first Iron Maiden/PPRuNe was a BLAST. An unforgettable event, that I obviously would like to experience one more time, but this time I'm afraid it's gonna be extra hard, as I'm probably back in Norway when the event takes place :(
I have a summer-job that's gonna be REALLY difficult to get out of.
Having said that, I'm gonna try my best to attend this little shindig ;)
Any info on when we need to give the final 'yes' or 'no'?
Cyrus664 13th Feb 2005, 22:37 I was talking with Maniac618 about this, and it made me think of a question. The answer might be obvious, but hey...I'm a stupid "metalhead" :8
If I've got this right, we leave straight after the gig on the 7th. May. Well, actually it'll be 8th. as it has been stated before, since the dept. is past midnight. However aztruck mentioned a post-gig bash. I'm wondering how we're gonna be able to squeeze this in before the flight back. Also, I'm not sure about flying on a plane with 3 drunken captains (just kidding of course ;))
Seriously though, how is this gonna work out? Is the gig gonna finish very early, or am I missing a vital piece of information?
Thanks in advance.
POLISH_EDDIE 13th Feb 2005, 22:50 Maybe we'll be at the pub for about 1 hour? Aztruck wrote that we would leave for aiport at 12.30 AM, Maiden show will probably begin around 21.00 and last for about 2 hours. So we'd be able to get to the pub for, let's say, 23.30 and stay there for 1 hour. :) I don't know...
Helkaer 14th Feb 2005, 00:44 2 tickets...for deffo!! I will BE THERE!!
I swear!
*writes cheque out* :ok: :ok:
GhostofCain 14th Feb 2005, 07:54 Dammit, I won't be able to go as I have an exam that day and being the teacher I should attend. :(
AirTrooper 14th Feb 2005, 10:50 I didn't understand that the program is to leave after the show! In this case maybe i have chance of coming...but i can't give an answer right now.
At the moment is a no.
As for the post-gig bash i guess it'll all depends on how much support bands will play and how much maiden will play. If Maiden will play 90-100 minutes, chances of a longer bash increases, but i guess that people would be more interested in a longer maiden set :p
If they take the stage at 8.00 p.m. for 120-130 minutes show, then it's reasonable to think that at 11.15-11.30 pm the bash will take place for around an hour. Maybe someone can give more details.
Great flight trip :ok:
Cyrus664 14th Feb 2005, 11:15 Polish_Ed,
Hehe, yes I know when Maiden usually go on stage. Been to a "few" gigs before ;) But to me it sounds unlikely that we'll be at the pub for only 1 hour. We'll never have time to a) make it out of the venue b) FIND the pub in town, and c) fit like 100 person in there and make sure all of them have time for a drink. You can't fit all that in just one hour
Hamrah or aztruck, what have you guys planned? Don't hold back ;)
POLISH_EDDIE 14th Feb 2005, 13:50 I've also been to a "few" Maiden gigs, Cyrus. ;)
You are right - the "after-show" party in the Irish Pub would be pretty short... Maybe, as AirTrooper wrote, Maiden will go on stage a bit earlier than 9 PM? We'll see...
I'm pretty positive that I'll be going. It's gonna be a great trip! :ok:
METALMICKY 14th Feb 2005, 15:27 CHIMP/HAMRAH
Provisionally put me down for one please as i went to Dublin and it was awesome.
Just a quick question. How soon can you provide all the details necessary for booking this shindig as i'd like to beat any unseemly bundle when its opened to the hordes on the Maiden BB?
Many thanks you guys this has just made this dreary Monday just so much better!:ok:
Right, I can now upgrade my provisional 4 tickets to a definate, absolutely certain, there's no going back, 100% yes!
So, in summary I will definately require 4 (four) tickets please :ok:
Cyrus664 14th Feb 2005, 18:48 Please make sure we can buy tickets with a Solo card (like last time), 'cos that's the only card I have :uhoh:
EDIT: I'm getting ahead of myself here. Still not sure whether or not I can make it :(
aerobatic_dude 14th Feb 2005, 20:02 Sound's Like a Great trip.
Knowing my luck i will probably be Busy :*
Then again if i'm going i'll take 2.
aerobatic_dude
Helkaer 14th Feb 2005, 22:35 Just checked...and yes, I can deffo go!
So two for me! :ok:
Sorry to add to the growing list of questions but....
Is Motorhead gonna be supporting this year?
VFE.
GhostofCain 17th Feb 2005, 10:58 Folks....we have a 757, we have a gig in Iceland, the tickets are held, the inflight entertainment is rocking, and you'll be up in eternal light on June 7th...thats a Tuesday.
Hmmmm, wouldn't it be better with an Airbus A320? :)
POLISH_EDDIE 17th Feb 2005, 14:58 Or with a Space Shuttle? ;)
I haven't flown 757 yet... Though I've been flying on board of his bigger brother - 767 many times. It's gonna be a great trip! :)
ASTROCREEP 17th Feb 2005, 21:12 I'll be travelling with Theli727 so put our names down for two tickets please.
Cheers http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/aktion/action-smiley-072.gif
Helkaer 19th Feb 2005, 11:16 Ok, sorry to be a bother!
But if I get tickets, I'll be wanting three, not two :ok:
I found another Maiden fan who heard about this and was begging me to add him to my list
But thats the final amount for me, three pwease :ok:
Cyrus664 19th Feb 2005, 21:59 I noticed the news have reached the Iron Maiden board. That was pretty quick!
I bet the tickets will sell REALLY quickly now, and we have to lunge ourselfs at the phone when they go on sale, if we want to secure a ticket.
POLISH_EDDIE 20th Feb 2005, 20:55 I see you are going Cyrus. Great! It'd be cool to finally meet you! :) :ok:
As I wrote before, I'm 99% going (1 ticket)... It's gonna be the best trip of my life! :D
Cyrus664 20th Feb 2005, 23:16 Polish_Ed,
I'm still not sure if I can go. There's a few loose ends I have to tie up, and unfortunately I'm feeling my final decision will be made in the very last minute. It's hard to sort out everything so long in advance.
METALMICKY 21st Feb 2005, 09:02 AZTRUCK/HAMRAH
Apologies for being a pain in the arse but is there an option to obtain a seated ticket for the gig as part of this package? I ask this on the basis that that maiden.com is currently only stating that the tickets are standing.I will quite openly put up my '40 year old fart' banner on this one. My days of being in the scrum down the front are long gone particularly if i bring the girlfriend. More importantly with this trip being so whistle stop i'm not keen on the after gig drink and flight home drenched in sweat. It could be one smelly plane home!
Just wondering whether any of the other older PPruners i met in Dublin might be think about this too.
Many thanks for any help.
Would love to go but I've already forked out for the Paris trip. Plus the money I'm gonna be spending @<hidden> Clive Aid. I just can't afford it.
Unless I starve the children for a month :E

I'm not sure if this venue have any seats at all... It looks like a big hangar. http://www.egilshollin.is/
Though maybe there is some place to sit on both sides of it...
Cyrus664 23rd Feb 2005, 12:19 After a quick count on the Maiden board, it seems we have 49 who definitely wants tickets, and 10 maybes/interested.
twilightsglow 24th Feb 2005, 00:01 I'd really like to go! Money is no object, and I'd find some way to have off from work. But I would really like to see Cyrus there ;)
kopbhoy2 24th Feb 2005, 08:34 Can you give us a clue if there's a chance of a UK gig, Bruce?
The band have announced a date in Dublin (august 31st, RDS arena) so as they seem to be adding dates quite regularly now there might be more shows announced. Keep an eye on the Maiden website...
POLISH_EDDIE 24th Feb 2005, 12:12 Maiden will do Reading and Leeds festivals on 26-28 August.
Mav64 24th Feb 2005, 22:54 Looking at min 2, possibly 7. My thanks to all involved for bringing this about (Blatantly Bruce, you know who you are 8).
How do we go about confirming?
Cheers,
Ross
Nerik 25th Feb 2005, 10:55 Put down Nerik for 2 tickets. I am far from sure about coming this time, but if I do I might bring my wife along (or my nephew).
Aztruck and Hamrah, are you guys flying the 757 nowadays?
Nerik
Hamrah 27th Feb 2005, 20:45 Nerik,
yes we are flying the 757.
When we see around 100 commitments we can go ahead with planning the event. There is some double counting going on between here and the IM website.
So if you want this to happen, tell all your IM friends , and lets see if we can get enough to make it a viable trip.
H
oozily 28th Feb 2005, 11:48 Well, i have finally got the go ahead from work for the time off.
So stick me down for a ticket please. It will be nice to get back on the old BruceAir flight :)
Windle Poons 28th Feb 2005, 20:22 It's taken a while, but there's nothing more to be done, so with much regret, wailing and gnashing of teeth, Mrs Poons and I will be unable to attend. And there was me thinking of an Eddie and Bjork t-shirt! Aaaarghhh. Dublin was a blast and I'm sure Iceland will be as good, if not better, so to all of you going "hafa a mikill tími."
http://www.bazlinton.com/images/music-smiley-026.gif (sorry no six in a band gifs available)
Hamrah, sorry I haven't been in contact regarding that flight, but extenuating circumstances and all that. Will explain in a PM and sort out some dates soon.
Likewise Aztruck, if you fancy a day out then let me know either directly or via Hamrah.
Windle Poons
oozily 1st Mar 2005, 17:45 Damn, sorry to hear you can't make it Poons, your t-shirts were excellent last trip.
Still lets hope you can make the next one :)
Sick Squid 1st Mar 2005, 21:12 Put me down for two please... will give Smiffy and John a heads-up too, they'll be on for it I reckon.
Cyrus664 2nd Mar 2005, 15:58 Just cross-checked with the IM BB.
There are 83 "goers" and 11 undecided.
But I bet the numbers will probably sink when the tickets definitely go on sale.
aztruck 3rd Mar 2005, 17:44 Cheer up Cyrus...it may never happen....well actually it will. Today I actioned the booking agent to go ahead and produce a brochure for the trip and I firmed up all the details with our Commercial department. I reckon 90 ish heads without any significant advertising is worth having a pop at.
On the basis of "if we build it they will come"(hey... it worked for the airline...) I expect to reveal the booking hotline number mid next week.
The trip is atol protected and coach transport to and from the gig is included, along with a gig ticket, food on the plane there and back, in flight entertainment(not just the Pilot) and all airport taxes etc etc.
The total price is £300.00.
The trip times are Depart Gatwick 10.00am local, arrive Keflavik at 11.45 local.
Depart Keflavik at 01.30 am local, arrive Gatwick 04.45 local.
AirTrooper 3rd Mar 2005, 18:47 So the trip cost is 300£, a honest price if you ask me. Well I'll try an ultimate attempt to see if I can make it, but honestly i really really doubt it (awful year this one for me sorry, 2006 should be better, health included :( ).
I'm really glad to hear that this is going to happen though, so thank to all the people involved and that are working to make it real!:ok:
Cyrus664 3rd Mar 2005, 19:54 aztruck,
Good to hear it's getting sorted out. I hope you don't mind, but I'm feeding the guys at the Maiden board with the info. you post here. They are all eager to buy tickets!
I really hope I can make the trip, but until I get everything sorted out, I'll keep helping people out with questions they have and promoting the trip so it'll sell out (even though I fear I might not get a ticket when/if I sort out my own plans).
oozily 3rd Mar 2005, 20:31 I've packed me overnight bag, now where is the plane http://www.oozily.co.uk/nsa/images/smile003.gif
POLISH_EDDIE 3rd Mar 2005, 22:43 aztruck --> thanks for the info! :ok: By the way - why wouldn't you post the news on IronMaiden.com main page? I'm sure many people don't read the BB and the flight would sell out faster if it'd be advertised on the main page as well... :)
Well, I hope I'll make it!
Cheers!
GhostofCain 4th Mar 2005, 08:42 POLISH_EDDIE is right. Not all Maiden and Bruce fans need an anorak - like we do -, so it might be a good idea for aztruck to post the news at IronMaiden.com.
Just in case Bruce is around, any news about the release date of his long awaited new solo album? :) If it's as good as "The chemical wedding" (one of the best albums he has ever recorded, Maiden classics included) I might even buy not just one but several copies. :D
POLISH_EDDIE 4th Mar 2005, 09:34 Hi Ghost! :) I hope Bruce's solo album will be out in May as it was rumoured... I really can't wait for it as all his albums with Roy Z were brilliant! I hope Adrian Smith will be playing on it as well. :D
Aztruck - is there going to be any way to pay for the trip without credit card? I don't have one yet (they are not common in Poland)... Is it possible to pay with money order, bank transfer etc? Or should I find some English friend who has got credit card? ;)
Maniac618 4th Mar 2005, 15:03 I've just been wondering what I can talk to Bruce about this time. Last time I asked him about a new solo album and he told me he was going to be talking to Roy Z soon to come up with stuff.
Since then we have found out that it's been made and coming soon. Late April/early May?
Anyway, I think this time I'll ask him about his stage microphone and why it has to pick up everything else within a 5000km radius as well as his voice :)
If Janick is around this time I'll need to ask him how he can fight Eddie and still play without us all hearing loads of off notes (or does he turn his volume off at that point and pretend to play?).
I need to tell Adrian to make another solo album like ASAP silver and gold. He doesn't have to listen of course but it would be nice :)
I need to ask Steve to vary the setlist a bit more from venue to venue and maybe drop a few classics that are played all the time.
I think i'll be asking about the DOD DVD as well if it isn't out by then.
I'll tell Dave to try a solo effort and Nicko to bring out his own 'studio out-takes' comedy cd.
:8
GhostofCain 4th Mar 2005, 15:09 Maniac, you'd better ask them for how long are they going to be playing and recording new stuff together. :)
Perhaps you could ask Bruce if the Dalek is still at home. :D I need an anorak... :8
BTW, I'd rather have an instrumental album by Adrian (or with Andy Makin singing) than a new album in the "Silver and gold" vein (good, but he can do better). ;)
Helkaer 7th Mar 2005, 01:46 Aztruck - Awesome news that this is getting sorted and confirmed :ok:
Not even phoned for a ticket and I'm all excited  ;)
METALMICKY 9th Mar 2005, 08:02 Perhaps you could ask Bruce if the Dalek is still at home. I need an anorak...
Actually i think Ghost has really hit upon one of the most crucial questions that Bruce needs to be asked! Who was the 'Daddy' of the Doctors past? For me its got to be between Tom Baker & Jon Pertwee with perhaps Pertwee just clinching it mainly on his sartorial elegance and his dealing with the big maggots in the 'Green Death':\
And of course what's Astraeus policy on Sonic screwdrivers as hand luggage:ok:
Maniac618 9th Mar 2005, 21:37 Dear all and especially those organising this and needing a head count,

Capn Notarious 10th Mar 2005, 23:30 Now to recount the facts; as percieved by me (0ver fifty and should know better, needs a seat, stood at too many gigs) .
A plane load of Pprune peeps and IM afficionados. Will embark a 757 at Gatport Airwick. Fly due north to witness IM in concert, then after the 'event', be placed deafened or otherwise in the Bong Ashtrays are us plane and conveyed to Gatwick Airport. Then, at their own expense be spreaded around the land via a variety of transportation.
So the cost, the damage and the date? In big letters some of us wear glasses!!
METALMICKY 11th Mar 2005, 09:35 I'm with you Capn Notarious on the issue of whether there's any seat tickets available. I've asked the question earlier but as no response as yet, i guess its not an option. I'm just too old now for the front row bundle and the back is iffy.
Nerik 13th Mar 2005, 10:56 Micky was dead tired after standing up for the entire footie match near Dublin airport (that Steve Harris was playing in!). Me too..........it was darn cold!
Cyrus664 13th Mar 2005, 14:59 Well guys, it is with a saddened heart that I am telling you that I won't be attending this Iron Maiden/PPRuNe bash :(
I tried my best to work things out, but the time and money were two major problems I couldn't overcome.
I will still help promote this trip, and help first-timers with question, so the flight will be as successful as last time.
:ok:
Stan Sted 17th Mar 2005, 13:06 Aztruck/Ham
How many seats are left? I am still trying to work out if I can afford to pay for my whole family (wife, three offspring) who are all Maiden fans.
I am writing this with Wildest Dreams playing at level 22 on my hi-fi 'phones, but still think there is a chance of us all applying for tickets with me paying of course.
Mrs SS and I were on the brilliant Dublin trip and desperately want to fly BruceAir 666 again but with three others in tow it might be a little tricky. Still working on it. (Rainmaker now playing, level gone up to 30).
Jeez, the more I play the albums the more I want to go.
I wonder if the bank manager allows overdrafts for Maiden tickets (curiously No More Lies is playing now).
Maiden fans will by now have realised that I am playing the Dance of Death album.
Hamrah 17th Mar 2005, 13:10 Plenty of seats left, but it is about to get a big push with some publicity from a couple of industry sources.
H
Stan Sted 17th Mar 2005, 13:32 Blimey H
that was a rapid response.
Right, will start counting the pennies and flogging stuff on Ebay.
Anyone like to buy some of my old model aeroplanes from the 60s and 70s? Have some very nice Mills and ED diesel engines. Control line and free flight a speciality.
Also have some more recent radio control gear and electric motors. A few 40 glow engines too.
Might even sell my pride and joy: a 40in rubber powered model called the Percy, from a 1935 Wakefield design.
METALMICKY 17th Mar 2005, 16:36 Time to get a few more lottery tickets methinks. Its the missus 30th birthday in June so only last week at gunpoint (well virtually)the wonga was splashed on 8 days in Rome,Venice and Florence.
Despite the great memories of Dublin i'm subsequently really struggling to justify this one.:(
Post that number and let me argue with my common sense.
oozily 17th Mar 2005, 17:48 I see it's advertised on the Iron Maiden website now.
Hey Stan, wasn't i sat next to you on the Dublin trip?
For those who are waiting for it to be announced on this thread, here ya go:
17/03/2005“Fly with me, Reykjavik!”
Bruce Dickinson will be combining two of his greatest passions in June, when he combines jobs as lead singer of the worlds leading metal band IRON MAIDEN and Commercial Airline pilot with Astraeus Airlines.
First Officer Bruce will fly a specially chartered real Heavy Metal Boeing 757 from London’s Gatwick airport on Tuesday 7th June into Keflavik Airport, Iceland where he will take the stage that night with Iron Maiden to play at Reykjavic’s 15,000 capacity Egilsholin Stadium as part of the bands EDDIE RIPS UP…EUROPE 2005 Stadium and Festival Tour
Special arrangements have been made to make this a very special event for up to just 192 fans – not only will they have the opportunity to get autographs and to have pictures taken with Bruce and Nicko (if he gets up in time!!!) onboard the plane or on arrival – but they will be given VIP wristband access to the stadium allowing them the opportunity of closest possible audience positioning at the front of the hall. After the blistering Maiden set passengers will be transferred back to the Airport to fly back into Gatwick for an early morning arrival on Wednesday 8th June.
Bruce says “Iceland is a great place and a terrific party town. Mind you, I'll be on the mineral waters if I'm flying the plane. We had a memorable fun trip to Dublin as a test on the last tour and l think all the fans who joined us had a terrific time. And if this goes well we will definitely do more in the future. Its good to meet the fans in a relaxed environment and hopefully Nicko and our manager Rod will join us to help serve the drinks!!”
Tickets priced £320 will include:-
- Return flight from/to Gatwick inclusive of airport taxes.
- Ground Transport from/to Airport in Iceland and Venue
- Standing Iron Maiden ticket with special standing VIP auditorium access
- Bruce will make himself available at both airports and onboard (subject to logistics), for individual photo souvenirs.

POLISH_EDDIE 17th Mar 2005, 19:01 Aztruck or Hamrah --> do you know if it's possible to pay without credit card? With money order, bank tranfer or something like that?
I hope I can sort everything out in time...
EDIT: It seems I can't see Maiden in Paris but I'm definitely doing Iceland trip. Just need the details how to book ticket without a credit card...
One question that has been raised is:
"If the trip is cancelled due to lack of interest, do we get our deposits back?"
Stupid question probably, but it's worth asking
Stan Sted 17th Mar 2005, 20:13 What-ho Oozily
Yep, I was next to you at the gig and what a great night it was.
Dunno if I can make it this time...£1,500 to take the family on a day trip?
Well, of course it's worth it but when I was a lad you could get 1,500 charabanc trips to Southend for that and still have change after pie, chips and a lemonade.
METALMICKY 17th Mar 2005, 22:48 Hmm .......now this is gig is costing £320 its time for me to bow out gracefully:sad:
I hope everyone who goes has a great time but for me i'll have to consider arranging a cheaperMaiden 'fix' for this summer. Maybe Paris or Dublin again?
GhostofCain 18th Mar 2005, 09:13 Mike, you should go to Bospop, where a certain Spaniard that shares your sense of humour will be enjoying the Maiden onslaught with his girlfriend. :)
oozily 18th Mar 2005, 22:42 I've paid my deposit. Iceland here i come :)
Hamrah / Aztruck / Anyone else involved in arranging this trip,
Are we going to be able to store bags on either the plane or coach, as I doubt we'll be able to take rucksacks into the gig (also not very practical)?
Appreciate your thoughts chaps.
Rugz
POLISH_EDDIE 15th Apr 2005, 15:48 Everything's confirmed and I'm going!!! I can't wait - it'll be first time flying onboard 757 + Bruce will be First Officer. :) And Iceland sounds like a great place to visit!
Is Bruce going to fly us back to London as well or he will only join us on the way to Iceland?
Now I must book my flight tickets from Poland. ;)
GhostofCain 19th Apr 2005, 16:03 I think that Bruce will fly you back to London too. He has said he will be on mineral water... :)
cloudskimmer 11th May 2005, 14:40 well i got a spare half a grand but i guess its all too late for me now .. . . will await the next venture:{
POLISH_EDDIE 5th Jun 2005, 19:02 Is everyone ready for the flight? :D :)
I set off to London tomorrow morning.
Aztruck and Hamrah - see you on board!
METALMICKY 8th Jun 2005, 08:56 Come on chaps let's see those piccies and reports.
All day yesterday i gnashed my teeth wishing i could have justified the cash particularly since Dublin was so great.
GhostofCain 8th Jun 2005, 11:28 Yeah, I also want to know how it was as this is the second time I miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. Let's hope that I won't miss it next time.
Big Tudor 8th Jun 2005, 11:52 Well, it's past lunchtime on the day after the gig and still no response from the giggers. Must have been one hell of a night. :ok:
Dan Dare 8th Jun 2005, 15:13 Loved the callsign : - "FlyStar 666"
the number of the beast, sacrifice etc etc

Archived pictures while we await the real ones...
Hamrah 8th Jun 2005, 17:04 Ok...from the front end it went very well. Bruce flew both sectors. Nicko welcomed people on board. Both took time with fans enroute. Rekjyavik weather was pretty awful, involving an ILS to minima with 25 knot crosswind ( High speed fog)
The gig itself was great. 10,000 tickets sold ( almost 3% of the country's population!).
I'm sure other will give their opinions, Polish eddie in particular who appeared to have a great time.
H
GhostofCain 8th Jun 2005, 17:48 Nice to see everything went great Hamrah. I hope to meet you all sometime as I wouldn't like to die without experiencing a flight in that company!
Moreover, I'm a University lecturer and it would be interesting to see the satellite navigation systems work in a plane.
POLISH_EDDIE 8th Jun 2005, 21:32 I'm finally back at home in Warsaw after flying from LGW to KRK (Cracow) and then taking domectic 30 mins long 737 flight to WAW! What a long 3 days!!
I had a total blast! It was for sure the best trip of my life!!
First time flying 757 (after flying xxx times on board his bigger brother 767 ;) ) - with the best pilots you can imagine (Hamrah and Bruce - and they have changed their seats during the flights! :) ) was totally amazing experience!
Iceland was stunning! Swimming at Blue Lagoon in such weather seemed to be a crazy idea but it was fun and enjoyable! Thanks to Bruce for recommending the place for us! It was really surreal!
The show itself was brilliant even though it was my 3rd time seeing Maiden on this tour (I caught them in Prague and Poland in late May). Icelandic fans were totally crazy and it was really hard to keep the place in very front row for the whole show! But it was worth it! Incredible gig!
Now I'm going to get some sleep as I barely slept in last 3 days. ;) I shall post some pics from the flight (and the flight deck) soon!
Aztruck and Hamrah - thanks again for this amazing trip! I'm looking forward to flying with you in future! It was a pleasure to meet you! I hope there will be more "Bruce Air" flights in future (to Sharm El-Sheikh? ;) LOL!) and I'll do everything to join them as well! I think there is a really big demand for such trips and even taking A380 ;) wouldn't be enough to get all interested people on board!
Thanks again!! :ok:
Theli727 10th Jun 2005, 16:05 I cant really add to anything than Polish Eddie has allready said...
Thanks again to everybody that made that trip possible and for great company throughout the whole trip.....
I am still flying and i am looking forward to the rest of the tour 9 maybe 10 more gigs for me :ok:
POLISH_EDDIE 12th Jun 2005, 20:09 As I promised - here are pics from Iron Maiden Iceland trip! Hopefully you will enjoy them. If you want more pics or higher resolution, contact me - wickerman@<hidden>

Omaha 14th Jun 2005, 17:18 Why is Bruce sitting in the left hand seat. I thought that was reserved for the captain? :D
Nerik 14th Jun 2005, 17:29 Maybe Bruce is doing his command training? If so, good luck Bruce!
oozily 23rd Jun 2005, 21:20 Sorry i've been so slow with the coming back with gig info, but it's been a busy times for me since the trip. It's all go you know!
I've got all my pic's on my gallery http://www.downloadmyarse.co.uk/thumbnails.php?album=44
It was a great trip, and i can't wait for the next one. Hamrah, i missed getting to say hello this trip, i must make more of an effort next time :)
Nearly Man 4th Jul 2005, 09:11 Ah Aztruck .. just seen the pics, looking pretty good my man .. I shall have to try the 2 pints of ESB a day diet :)
POLISH_EDDIE 13th Jul 2005, 17:44 I uploaded a few pics from the trip on JetPhotos.com. Here's the link: http://www.jetphotos.net/showphotos.php?userid=7906
I'll try to post them some more when I have time...
Can't wait for another trip next year! Scandinavia, as Bruce said, would be very interesting! :)
POLISH_EDDIE 8th Aug 2005, 06:25 Happy birthday, FO Bruce! :ok:
I had a great time yesterday at Alpine Valley Ozzfest and week ago in Chicago. :) See you in Hammersmith on September 2!
I see there's a big Rock Extravaganza featuring Iron Maiden in Dublin on the 31st August.
http://www.visitdublin.com/events/events_detail.asp?eventID=1842
If you're interested looks this time like you'll have to stick to scheduled flights to get to it if coming from abroad.
Perhaps this would be a better site.
http://www.ironmaiden.com/ :\
Scared the life out of me. ;)
kopbhoy2 22nd Aug 2005, 22:17 Bruce - no eggs in Dublin ;) You guys were right (of course).
Up The Irons!
GhostofCain 23rd Aug 2005, 09:12 I guess Sharon won't insult Bruce at the Dublin show, will she?
kopbhoy2 23rd Aug 2005, 11:40 I guess Sharon won't insult Bruce at the Dublin show, will she?
Shouldn't think so, it's not Ozzfest...! :D
METALMICKY 23rd Aug 2005, 21:48 The Chimp aint for running in the face of some pathetic plastic faced whore's mighty strop!
And Rod's statement on the website is pure professional class!
When the Trooper starts up at the Hammy i'm just going to go nuts!
GhostofCain 24th Aug 2005, 09:20 The Chimp aint for running in the face of some pathetic plastic faced whore's mighty strop!
And Rod's statement on the website is pure professional class!

It's a pity I can't go to the Hammy show as I have a mate's wedding that same day, but that surely will be one hell of a show!
POLISH_EDDIE 29th Aug 2005, 16:24 I saw 2 Ozzfest gigs this year (Chicago and Milwaukee. unfortunately Minneapolis show, which I have planned to attend as well, was cancelled) and Maiden ruled the stage by far! Sabbath just can't top them. IMHO they should retire after all these cancellations etc. Ozzy can't do it anymore.
BTW I can't wait for Hammersmith Apollo show on Friday. I'm coming to LHR from WAW via AMS on Thursday and staying untill Sunday. It'll be my 2nd time flying KLM in one week as I have just returned from my holidays in the US. It's gonna be great to see Maiden in such a legendary and small venue (+ to suport Clive Burr!) and to see London again. See you there!
kopbhoy2 1st Sep 2005, 09:01 Maiden were excellent last night in Dubiln, on top form & they just get better. Bruce's 'William Tell Overture' was great! :ok:
For those of you going to Hammersmith, have a great time, it'll be on hell of a night! :)
Just read Sharon's interview in Kerrang. :yuk:
Settling one's scores by ruining the show for 45,000 plus people shows her class, especially when she screwed up the sound for Maiden.
Anyway Bruce if you are reading this (unless you are watching some MTV reality show :O ) , we are all behind you!
kopbhoy2 15th Sep 2005, 17:27 And for those of you who are interested, the Maiden did a BBC session which you can hear by going to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/zanelowe/legends_week_2005.shtml
'The Trooper', 'Run To The Hills' & 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'. Very, very good indeed!! :)
