BA are suspending 2 short haul routes from LGW, with effect summer timetable. FRA and GOA to go. However new flights to Vilnius, Thessalonika, Split, Sofia and Bucharest commence. SOF and OTP are actually overnight flights, both departing LGW around 2300, unusual timings for BA shorthaul flights??

Is LGW actually being turned into a BA leisure type base?

Rumours are also rife since the announcement of BA Mid Fleet at LGW? Houston, Dallas and Atlanta to move to LHR with MIA, MRU, NBO to move the other way and LGW to gain flights to NYC and DXB to compete with VS/CO and EK?

How could IAH, DFW and ATL move to LHR and still be in compliance with Bermuda 2?

There is no possibility of IAH, DFW, ATL being moved to LHR much as BA would like to move them. They are required to br operated from LGW under Bermuda 2. There is also no likelihood of MIA, NBO, MRU etc being moved to LGW. These are all 744 operations and that fleet is and always will now be based at LHR. BA have said consistently for several yeras now that their LGW operations lose money so no likelihood of expanding long haul there.

If ATL etc could be moved to LHR my guess is that BA would then abandon all long haul at LGW. That is waht they want to do and that is what they will do as soon as they get the chance.
