View Full Version : EAA Questions...answers please anyone?
1. Anyone know how long progression to Captain would take at Eastern Australia nowdays for someone joining the company as a First Officer in the near future?
2. For someone joining the company in the near future, which aircraft would they be put on initially? -300s perhaps, considering the eventual phasing out of the -100s and -200s? ...or is it all a common type rating and everyone flies all types (-100/-200/-300)?
3. Would every pilot be trained on the -400 or does that work as per seniority, taking forever for newly joined pilot?

With the amount of guys and girls moving on at the moment the latest figure is around three years for commmand. All the new FO's are checked on the -100, -200 and -300. Nobody knows for sure about the crewing for the -400, but it seems that only selected crew will fly the -400.

1. Anything from 18 months to 3 years. Anecdotal evidence is it will be a lot less than that in 12 months;
2. You will be trained on the -102 to -315, which is covered by a common endorsement. 3 lots of limitations and other data to remember:yuk:

Howard, it's unlikely but not impossible, particularly with the -400's on the way. However there are a number of industrial issues that would hinder such a move, such as bypass pay for those that would otherwise get the commands or promotions.
IMHO it's too early to even speculate what will happen there.

I will continue to live in hope, or perhaps I can just wait till the time to command is 6 month's and then make the jump!!:ok:

Howard, you've got to be in it to win it. The time to apply is NOW This bizz is so fluid it's impossible to predict time to command, but the prospects have never been better. Holding out in the vague hope of a D.E. slot is not wise. Most of the airlines use seniority for promotion, so the best way to improve your chances is to have some seniority in the company....
Just don't do it if you have an app in with QF. Because you'll have a grey beard by the time (IF) they look at you.:mad:
