Hello Gents,

Bit of a request for any that may remember them on here or not.

I am basically looking to try and find out which callsigns would have been used by 892sqn while operating the F-4 Phantom for a friend of mine.

Any help greatly appreciated

cheers

At the risk of memory failure 892NAS were the same, when embarked, as the rest of us: the side number of the aircraft was the callsign. Side numbers were 001 - 012, or thereabouts.

I thought the side numbers were only used on the flight deck?

Generally, callsign "Omega....." was used for transitting wherever, and embarked, we used our personal callsigns which were based on nick-names. Hence Fox, Goose, DryFly, Sharkey etc.
