Sorry if this has question has been asked before. I did a search but could'nt find any info on WSO aptitude tests as im heading to cranwell in the next couple of months to try my luck at becoming a wizzo.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on the types of tests i'll be facing down at OASC for WSO aptitude.

I know these tests are designed to be done without any prep but it would be nice to have a heads up when the battery of tests starts and what to expect.

The pilots get a nice glossy book to show them the battery of tests they'll being doing down at OASC.
No such luck for WSO!:* , so hope someone can help me out,

Thanks , WW

Never saw that book when I went!

Don't know much as far as WSO tests but brush up on your speed, distance, time calcs and work speeds into miles/min where applicable - useful for group planning ex too.

There is some guestimation stuff on bearings as I recall and I'm sure much more, but as you might find it all erges into a long day of computer games and headaches!

Incidently all branches sit the full battery to give you more options for selection/ re branch at a later date.

Good Luck!

An ability to distinguish between one's arse and one's elbows is all that is needed....

BEags,

Quite incorrect... I am one (new generic brevet 'n' all), and there is no requirement to tell ar*e from elbow!

But in all seriousness, distance x speed x time is a big player. If you're fairly quick and accurate with numbers you should have no issues. As discussed previously, you will end up sitting the full battery of tests which will also include memory and hand-eye coordination. The best advice I can give is brush up on mental arithmetic.

Good luck, and PM me if you need any other advice!

Doh, beaten by Beagle! Latest test for WSO, hot off the press:

1. Close Eyes (Both at the same time).
2. Reach behind with BOTH hands, try to locate arse (your own).
3. If successful, try again with ONE hand, you may be QWI material.

1. The ability to go on about "how I couldnt be a pilot because.............." and/or fail Pilot selection

2. The wherewithal to carry the Pilots bags when you go on deployment

3. The dignity to say "I'll take the fat one"
