I know of Kermit Weeks' museum and the Warbird facility in Kissimmee.
What else is there going on in 2005 for a visitor to FLorida?

Sun and Fun at Lakeland but I don't know when it is. Supposed to be a very good event.

Andy, go take a look at the Space Centre at Cape Kennedy - even the most die-hard consipracy theorists must swoon at te sight of the Saturn V...
That aside, assuming you are airborne, fly down the Keys - superb! Also a facility at Tamiami, ex Kermit, worth a look!
Oh, and Jack Brown's at Winter Haven... it's what J-3 Cubs were made for!
Happy New Year!

Allow for a full day if you go to the Space Centre, then you may be able to also include the small warbird facility (see link) a few miles west of NASA and signposted from the highway. Can`t comment on the warbird collection as I did not have enough time despite leaving Orlando @ 9am. Perhaps others can?
NASA is also an immense nature reserve and worth a visit for that if not the Space Facility itself. Nature is a good way of selling the day away from Disney to the wife as well!!:O

I haver heard on another board that Tom Reilly at Kissimmee is shutting down his museum. Not as a result of Hurricane damage but becuase he has been offered lucrative restoration work elsewhere.
A shame.

The Navy Air Museum at Pensacola is worth a visit. It is in Florida after all, but a long way from the usual tourist haunts to be sure.

I did Pensecola from Orlando one year, thinking "it's not far on the map". Seemed to take forever!!!. Well worth a visit and you pass Lakeland AFB they have a museum too. Tom Riely's place was shut by the hurricane as it vertualy demolished the hanger. If you are in the Kissimie area you could give "Stallion 51" a call and book a ride in a P-51. Might cost you a few quid though.
