To the crews flying the new turbine water bombers out of Jandakot. Well done on todays job at Armadale! Without you guys, we'd probably still be trying to get the thing under control. And missing our Chrismas turkey. :{

Word is: "standby over the next few day - we're all gonna be busy"

It is not very often we get thanked for the work us Ag pilots do, so I shall be sure that the owner of the aircraft concerned (he is a friend of mine) gets your message.

Cheers,

Are they allowed to take an "observer"? Love to go up in one of them! Does being a bushfire brigade volunteer help??:D

Most of the Turbine bombing aircraft are 802's. The majoriy of bombers in WA are Dromaders, which are radials.

As for going up as an observer, not sure how you would manage this. Need to pull some strings with the fire service and aircraft owner/operator. Not generally done. Exceptions to the media / politicians and fire big wig. We do this to try to raise our profile as we are competing with 'Elvis', the biggest show pony out fit ever seen in Aust. We could have about 4 more 802's working for the cost of one Elvis and they both do the same job. So as you see it really is a game of politics, even in fire fighting!
