Messaging Service

How do you get rid of the annoying 'Messaging Service' (with the blue/grey background) that pops up sometimes even when not connected to the internet.

What's your OS?

If it's XP go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Scroll down to Messenger. Right click on it, select Properties then select disable.

This service was disabled by default by MS in XP SP2 as their way of minimizing a security vulnerability.

The question is if you're getting console messages you don't want, who's sending them :confused: :8

If you are getting them when not connected to the Internet, it sounds like you have some Malware on your computer.

It would be a good idea to download Hijack This! (http://www.thespykiller.co.uk) and post the log file here. Do NOT make any repairs. (Hijack This! pulls up everything, including programs that are supposed to be in your computer.)

What I have done is re-install Windows XP and McAfee VirusScan8.

I have also run Adaware SE, Spybot, McAfee Stinger and Spywareblaster. The Spybot though keeps finding DSO EXPLOIT (*5) all in the Registry. The DSO EXPLOIT will not go away no matter how many times I try and 'Fix the Problem'.
