Popped out today to do a bit of last minute shopping and noticed what looked remarkably like a single engined Cessna towing a banner over central London. Couldn't see what was written on it - when I first spotted it, it was just turning away from me and when it came round it was too far away. Anyone else spot it?

Also, not being an expert on the aerial work rules, I am slightly surprised that something like this would be permitted - fairly low level in a single with a bloody great banner strung out behind and all over a built up area. Someone will now no doubt tell me how wrong I am :D

It flew over Watford about an hour or so ago, 1500 hrs ish. Advertising EDF, a French utilities company who are in cohoots with some UK utilities companies. It looked like it was doing an approch to Elstree so height was not a real problem here.

There's already a thread about this on R&N. It puzzled me too when I saw it near the houses of parliament. If they went as far as Kings Cross, even gliding into the Thames from that height looks a bit dodgy to me.

Maybe the pilot's mates with someone important! :)

Was about to originate a thread on this. Forced to go to central London yesterday from sunny Norfolk and standing in Picc circus heard the familioar strains of a single cessna overhead towing a banner advertising an electricity company. 1000ft maybe. Certainly caused me to wonder about either legality or safety. I can't believe the former is an issue but the latter seems questionable.
