I've just watched Top gear and Eddie Izzard was on it talking about his PPL. (I think he said he learnt on a Piper Alpha :ooh: ). Anyway, it got me thinking about other famous flyers. There's the obvious John Travolta, Noel Edmunds & Nigel Mansell, and then the less obvious Alex James from Blur and the afformentioned Eddie Izzard.

So what other celebs are flyers (and any gos'?)

Don't want to disappoint you too much but a lot of these guys don't want it advertised that they enjoy doing what we do.
They fly for the enjoyment, anonimity and also the satisfaction that piloting an aeroplane gives them, outside their sometimes very public profile.
We have a large number of "names" where I operate and the pleasure is the mutual acceptance of each other's skill and the pleasant company they can be.

I work in the entertainment business and echo the thought that a lot of performing artists go to work, do their work, go home, look after their children, run their households and pursue their leisure activities.

Just like a lawyer, doctor or businessman should be allowed to step out of the office, so should a performing artist.

What they do on stage and screen is public and the public have a right to a sense of ownership, but what they do in private is entirely their own concern.

Agree, 100% - however, by the same token, they should not expect to move to the front of the restaurant queue, celebrity handling whilst out shopping, expect to be let off speeding tickets etc....the list goes on.

It could be said that the price of celebrity is to be open to the public whenever out of their private domicile - which was actually bought for them (indirectly) by the fans that support their work.

Before you scream at me - I don't personally subscribe to that theory, but I sympathise with people who do.

I honestly couldn't care less whether they've been on telly or sang a song; I just want to know that they're not going to fly into me or bend an aeroplane before I use it.
