Help! Following a minor PC fire I ve had to replace my motherboard and my tower.

The new tower has 2 x USB ports and a 1394 port on the front of the case. The motherboard has the sockets to accept these but the descriptions on the cables are different to those in the motherboard manual.

Mother board has:

VERG_FP_USBPWR0
VERG_FP_USBPWR0
USB_FP_P0-
USB_FP_P0+
USB_FP_P1-
USB_FP_P1+
GROUND
KEY
USB_FP_OC0

The tower leads are:

GROUND
2 -D
2 +VCC
2 +D

TBP+
TPA+
GND
GND

GROUND
1 -D
1 +VCC
1 +D

TBP-
TPA-
VCC
GND

Please can anyone advise which goes to which?

Its a KG-318 tower and a PCCHIPS SIS 661FX SKT478 motherboard.

Thanks.

pilotwolf,

I believe these are the connections on the front of your case:

http://www.compgeeks.com/images/300x300/cas-kg-318-yel-box.jpg

The USB Pinout is:

pin1=1 +VCC pin2=2 +VCC
pin3=1 -D pin4=2 -D
pin5=1 +D pin6=2 +D
pin7=GROUND pin8=GROUND
pin9=no pin pin10=no pin

The IEEE1394 Pinout is not important since your mobo does not support it.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. If you need a standard IEEE1394 Pinout I can give it to you.

Ok great! Thanks.

So I guess those leads work both the USB ports on the case?

That's the case but not in yellow!

pilotwolf,

The USB Ports are numbered 1 and 2 on the Case and 0 and 1 on the Mobo.

That was why I listed the Pinout by Pin Number, since it would get confusing with 1 = 0 and 2 = 1. ;)

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. Which color did you go with for the case?

OK. Thanks for that Richard.

Went for the plain Beige case - keep it plain and simple!
