View Full Version : Nero: "Copy CD"

Where am I going wrong all of a sudden; worked OK up 'til now?

'Copy CD' > Work through Wizard > 'Write CD' (copy disc to image) window comes up and grinds to a halt instantly with message: Analyzing CD failed.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Frustrated (tried various CD's).

Use Nero Info Tool and check ASPI isn't corrupted.

Toxteth O'Grady.....

First of all, excuse ignorance, what does ASPI stand for?

Selected Nero Info Tool/ASPI (tab) > 'ASPI installation' > 'System ASPI (drop down menu) > Window blank > ASPI is not installed highlighted in yellow at the bottom. ...Select 'Nero ASPI' on drop down menu > Details in window > ASPI is installed and working properly. ...Brilliant, except next time select Info Tool, back to square one; 'ASPI installation' > 'System ASPI (drop down menu) > Window blank > ASPI is not installed highlightted in yellow at the bottom.

How do you keep it installed, if that's the problem?

You need to install system ASPI drivers. What's your OS and I'll get you the download link?

Advanced SCSI Programing Interface.

Download link for all Windoze versions (except 95) here (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe)

Further explanation as to why non-SCSI devices such as CD burners need an ASPI layer here (http://aspi.radified.com/) along with download links to ForceASPI, an alternate driver installer.

Toxteth O'Grady.....

Nearly there (but not quite yet!).

Downloaded your Adaptec link, extracted zip, installed as per instructions. .....'Nero Info Tool' now shows WNASPI32.DLL & ASPI32.SYS, but with warning highlighted: ASPI installation is corrupted. I've uninstalled/reinstalled three times now; same result. ..........???.

Try this link (http://www.nero.com/en/download.html)

and type aspi in search bar top left of page it should give you a list of the latest nero aspi drivers for various windows systems

maxell.....

Latest NeroASPI already installed and "working properly" according to 'Nero Info Tool'. ...I am led to believe (above) that my problem is with my System ASPI.

Still puzzled as to why it worked OK until fairly recently if these were missing; or is this a post SP2 snag, I wonder?

Take it you are using a combi drive to copy from by any chance do you have another cd/dvd drive you could try?

you could also try a search for new xp drivers for your burner maybe sp2 doesnt like the old ones

@ Blue Sky

What does ASPICHK say rather than Nero InfoTool? Run ASPICHK from C: \adaptec\aspi\aspichk.exe

Download ForceASPI.

Run the KillASPI batch file then the InstallASPI. That will definitely fix your corrupt installation.

Remains to be seen whether that then sorts out the burn problem.

Toxteth O'Grady.....

Well, that ForceASPI 1.8 (http://members.fortunecity.com/forceaspi18/) is pretty impressive. ...ASPICHK shows all four components (v4.71.2) "properly installed and fully operational". ...Likewise, NERO INFO TOOL shows "ASPI is installed and working properly"

However, original problem persists when trying to copy CD Analyzing CD failed :( . ...Perhaps this Error Report means something to someone (?)

(unexpected) Conclusion (for anyone stuck with the same problem one day).....

In the absence of any further suggestions, or promised reply from Ahead (Nero) Support, uninstalled/reinstalled.

Same problem; hmmm.....

Uninstalled again and installed Roxio alternative.

Same problem; TURBOhmmm.....

Computer very shortly locked up. ...Resorted to Task Manager and was surprised to find only application running:DVD Region+CSS Free (http://dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm). ...Had installed this fairly recently, certainly since I last tried to copy a CD. ...Uninstalled this (plus Roxio), reinstalled Nero and now all is well (!).

NB: In fairness to DVD Region+CSS Free (http://dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm) they do not claim to support DVD-RAM drives, although suggest experimenting with the trial software, as it sometimes works. ...I did this and after extensive experiments with various multi region DVD's, it performed perfectly. ...The side effects have only come to the fore now, although almost worth it for the ASPI angle previously (something new to me).

All not lost, DVD Region+CSS Free (http://dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm) now configured in install/uninstall to suit.
