VT Aerospace were advertising in Flight a couple of weeks ago for ADC/APC rated atcos.. .SERCO?. .Wolverhampton?. .Humberside have 2 retiring this year, (end of April and in December), but they may have trainees lined up for these posts, and in any case usually ask for all 3 ratings previously validated.. .Sheffield . .The going rate seems to be circa £30K for most places.

Nats are still taking on trainee controllers, would think that they'd take Atco's with UK tower and approach ratings. Not sure about those with ICAO-only ratings though.

Hmmm, that didn't look to bad at all. I wouldn't mind working and living around Inverness <G>. Of course, I have no idea what the real cost of living would be like. Not to mention if they would even let someone of the Yank persuasion anywhere near there <G>... There is also the little problem of not retiring from here for another four years <sigh>...

Sorry Scott, you've got to get in line if you want a job at Inverness . .The usual requirement for a post there is to spend 70 years doing duties at HIALs "outposts" (some of which have their attractions when the weather is nice - for about 2 months out of 12 ), then get your nose consistently brown.. .No reflection on the atco staff at Inverness or the other outstations, the majority of whom are top guys and gal's.. .Been there, seen it, done it, got the T - shirt .

I can think of much worse places to spend my retirement than the Highlands of Scotland!. .. .As you say, though, pity about the weather..... .. .(said by an Englishman, by the way!)

Shoot, my wife and I wouldn't mind just about ANYWHERE in Scotland <G>... She fell in love it with it there on our visits. England was very nice too in most places but the cost of living was WAY to HIGH!

What's considered to be a fully qualified ATCO? Does that mean valid in Radar aswell or just Tower or including Approach?

HIAL looks like a really good deal.

HIAL don't have any radar units (as far as I'm aware); I assume they mean aerodrome and approach procedural.
