Hello all -

I am a Canadian flying longhaul for British Airways. This summer I bought a house in Kingston Ontario, and try to spend as much time here as possible.

There really isn't much of a private aviation scene here in Kingston, despite the presence of a fine municipal airport. Are there any syndicates (ie shared aircaft ownership clubs) operating in this area or the Toronto area? Or perhaps Ottawa? I'm looking for something more interesting than a C150 - I've heard there are a few Nanchangs flying in Ontario, for instance. Or even a jet provost (!)... open to ideas.

Would be looking for a well-run syndicate where I could hop on board for perhaps a 1/6 share.

Suggestions, anyone? Even an idea of where to start looking would be appreciated.

Thanks -

I fly to Kingston often but am not aware of any partnerships there. Check out Kingston Flying club or look at local airport BB.
Ourplane.com - in Toronto and elsewhere does a fractional - written up in flying mag

Syndicates are few and far between in this part of the world. We do have a Nanchang in Montreal (which I am privileged to fly) and a Fouga Magister but both are privately owned and operated. You can always try with the museum in Hamilton or the Canadian Harvard Association (or is it society?) they do allow their members to sponsor/fly the Yellow marvels. There is also a Nanchang in Oshawa.

Best of luck

Two links that you might find helpful:

(1) Pilot Partner (http://www.pilotpartner.com/) (allows you to search for other people in your area who are interested in sharing flights or looking for aircraft partners);

(2) Transport Canada's aicraft registry (http://www.tc.gc.ca/aviation/activepages/ccarcs/en/current_e.asp#quick?x_lang=e) (allows you to search for interesting aircraft located in southern Ontario).

The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association (http://www.chaa.ca/history.html) does not require a sponsorship fee for pilots. All that is demanded is a willingness to complete ground school and flight training, and a commitment to the Association's mission. It is a great bunch of people. The only downside is that it is based in Tillsonburg (about five hours' drive west of Kingston). If you want something closer to home, you might try Pioneer Aviation (http://www.entrix-computing.com/pionair/index.html), which is a commercial operation in Ottawa that rents out a DHC-1 Chipmunk.

Hope this helps!
