LHR - ATIS online?

I wonder if there's anywhere I can get information on ATIS for Heathrow, online ?

I'm planning a trip to LHR this w/e and I wanted in particular to know which runway was in use for mornings (hopefully not the easterlies). Can anyone tell me if it's 27L or 27R?

not sure I can answer your question, but get photo's of BA buses- I'll be flying in on one from Aberdeen, then out on another to Geneva on sat 20th!!!!!

The ATIS isn't on line and, in any event, doesn't provide "future" information. I expect someone from Heathrow will answer your question but, if not, you'll soon see as you approach the airport. Enjoy your trip to a fantastic place...

Runway 23!!!!!

Can they still open runway 23 or will it wipeout most of T2 and T4 parking for the clear and graded area?

I believe RW23 is currently not an operational runway - it has one of BA's Concordes sat just beside it, and is used as a taxiway at the moment.

Notams for EGLL show the following:

RWY 23 CLOSED DUE WIP 25 APR 15:40 UNTIL 30 NOV 23:59
DME HTT ASSOCIATED WITH RWY 23 UNSERVICEABLE 31 DEC 19:47 UNTIL 31 DEC 23:59 2004

Barring mishaps, I can confidently predict that *both* runways will be in use ;)

Assuming westerly winds, it will be 27R for landing and 27L for take-offs up till 1500.

This is not an 'official' answer, I just happen to know that it was the other way round last weekend.

Your best bet is to log onto the UK met office site, (www.meto.gov.uk) go to aviation, register and look at the TAFS and METARS. That way you can tell the current and forecast wind and (if you know the runway headings) which runway is most likely to be in use at any airport and most of the smaller fields in the civilised world.

Armed with that HEATHROW DIRECTOR can probably tell you how they alternate lefts and rights on 27 & 09.

I work at Heathrow and it's usually 27R for landing and 27L for take-offs up till 1500. And then they change around. However they do sometimes have an a/c landing on the take-off runway

Incidentally, when do they change around - is it back to 27L landings (mornings/to 3pm) on Monday?

The alternation only works on westerlies and the change occurs at 3pm. If it's 27R for landing all morning this week it will be 27L for landings in the morning next week.

On easterlies it's always 9L for landing unless something untoward occurs or unless the tower can accept a T4 lander on 9R.
