For anyone who's interested in this sort of thing, this is a cockpit video of a US Navy F/A-18 from launch to arrest set to "Magic Carpet Ride". If I wasn't mightily impressed I wouldn't have bothered posting it, but I was :ok:

F/A-18 Cockpit Ride (5.8 meg 3:30 minutes) (http://www.users.on.net/~drew.dickson/Aviation/FA18_MagicRide.wmv)

Cat shot with his visor up. That looks like a smart idea. I'm surprised he didn't have his mask off as well...

I guess if you are going to spend that much money on make up and manicures, visors up and gloves off for the video will have to be the order of the day!

Anybody got anymore links like that??

I have the original but its 54 meg and my host only lets me have 50. I compressed it to 6 meg to make it a reasonable download size. I do have a short one I found on the net of a F-16 pilot punching out but its pretty well known

I'll never fly for the Blue Angels again :( (2 meg) (http://www.users.on.net/~drew.dickson/Aviation/Punchout.wmv)

p.s from the outside

http://www.users.on.net/~drew.dickson/Aviation/F16_crash.jpg

Crashed during a demonstration at Mountain Home AB, Idaho. The pilot, Capt. Chris Stricklin, misjudged the altitude required to perform a split-S manoeuvre and started the pull down at only 1,670ft (510m) instead of the required 2,500ft (760m). The error most likely resulted from using an incorrect airfield altitude. Capt. Stricklin ejected only 8/10 of a second, at an altitude of 140ft (42m), before impact

Some good ones here. (http://videos.f16techs.com/) Make sure you check out the chopper video set to AC/DC's Thunderstruck. Excellent video.

Also, try this (http://www.teambanana.co.uk/b52crash2.wmv) one to watch a very big model B52 prang- very similar to LTCOL Hammond's prang in the US years ago!

There is another good page around but I didn't bookmark it and now I can't find it.

For those of you who have Shareaza installed, try doing a search for "Van Halen dreams", file type "video" - you should turn up the full version of the blue angels film clip

With a decent adsl connection (512k) it will take somewhere in the order of 1 1/2 hrs to download the 64mb file :ok:

giddy up!

I work with some ex-RAAF pilots and they have some good videos worth seeking out- Hornet and Mirage stuff around the Northern Territory.

The Mirage is exilarating to watch-low level up the Daly River or in dogfights using it's unbelievable roll rate.

The Hornet is a bit ho-hum after watching the Mirage. Looks slow and cautious in the low level scenes but the gun camera stuff excellent- versus F15's and zippy F16's.

Look under the bushflying one for some great footage of a supercub waterskiing onto riverbanks to short to land on....much more too besides.

Have asked around and the video of the Mirages is at the RAAF Museum at Pt Cook in a video presentation. Not sure how you could obtain it.

If the same as the one I watched, Darwin based Mirages with a background of 80's rock and roll music-quite well done and without corny Americanism's.

Israeli gun camera footage from the Six Day War was tacked on to the end of the version I saw aswell. Low level strafing and dogfighting. More srafing than dogfighting:} The Egyptians caught with their pants down ( or at morning prayer ).

This link, thanks to Skylark3 over on the African Forum, shows a little of the Transafrik B727 operation in Angola. Not military, but not for the faint-hearted either. Its about a 4mb download...

Wow Herc - that is amazing.

I would just love to hear non-hushkitted JT8D-15s bellowing again.

The old 727 is just the best looking aeroplane, with the 757 a close second.

By the way, have you seen the very pretty Heavylift 727-100 in fresh new paint at CNS? There is also a very impressive looking C130 in their colours that seems to be based there.

Thanks and best regards

Pretty good... for a jet;) And those JT8-Ds are partially responsible for some of my hearing damage. What? Mr Boeing sure built them well- that vid is ops normal, i have photos of them there in the rain and the place turns into a mud bath.

BTW haven't been to CNS for a few weeks so i may not have seen it, but you're not thinking of the Bristol Frieghter that has been at CNS and in BNE recently? Both big beasties with the same slim-line design but i think the Bristol outweighs the Herc by 20t or so...

Herc

It was a C130 - I know my Bristol Freighters mate. A Fat Albert is equally easy to pick.
