I am currently working for a US based regional airline but are playing with the thought of converting my FAA ATPL into JAA.

My research tells me that I have to take the 14 written tests which I would have to do through a distance learning program. I am looking for feedback from you boys and gals that went that route!

I also understand that I would have to do a skill test on a multi crew airplane with a JAA certified examiner. If I hold a type rating already is it correct that I don't have to do a full type rating course? If so where do I find a EMB-145 sim and a JAA certified examiner? What would the approximate cost be?

Thanks!:D

somewhere on www.caa.co.uk you will find a list of CAA/JAA approved TRTOs for type ratings. That may be a good place ot start. Some of them are based in the USA, too.

Hello

If you can stand it, reading LASORS may help. There is a link to download the PDF version here
