I went to the Newark Air Museum yesterday and had a very good day out. The new hanger is nice and the museum is becoming one of the best in the UK in my opinion. It was however bloody cold so I advise anyone going this Winter to wrap up warm :)

Nice set Andrewman. :ok:

As you say, Newark is getting to be the place to go these days, and it has a well stocked shop plus a delightful little cafe (which can do hot meals).

I was there myself a week or so back and had a good day. It's a pretty large site now isn't it, room for expansion . . . mmm, I reckon they could fit a Nimrod into their display now.

Anyway, maybe you didn't catch sight of the Gnat in the "workshop", it's been like this for quite a while now.

I've had my beady little eye on that Gnat for some time, one of my favourite aeroplanes of all time, a right little sports car! :ok:

Fully endorse comments made so far, Newark has slowly but steadily evolved into one of the best aviation museums in the UK. The new hangar will hopefully enable them to consolidate their collection - for example they now possess the only Varsity to be preserved under cover. The Swift looks fantastic too.

The only slightly negative comment I'd make (and I have to say I'm lothe to do so) is that the Shackleton and Hastings could do with some concrete footings and axle stands; the ground appears not to be supporting their weight very well.

Other than that very minor point, hats off to Newark! :ok:
