Just a quick one.
Saw two "G" reg 747 4UF freighters at Stansted yesterday. "Global Supply Systems" contracted to BA freight. Looks like at least one was delivered to GSS from "MC" registration in 2002, ergo ex Atlas group.
Does anyone have any more information on this operation. Could it be Atlas UK operation.

Have a read through THIS (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=137009&highlight=atlas) and see if it answers your question?

The pure freighter element of BA World Cargo was flown under an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance contract provided by the contractor, the rest by the contractee) contract by Atlas using American registered aircraft and American qualified crews. After a campaign by the Independant Pilots Association, BA were forced to use a UK operation to contract the work out to. For this reason, GSS was formed in 2001 with the first operation about mid 2002. 51% is owned by a UK entrepreneur, John Porter. The other 49% by Atlas Air Holdings. The 3 747-400F aircraft are leased from Atlas and were transferred from the US register. They are G-GSSA, B and C.

Pretty much the nuts and bolts facts with no elaboration and no rhetoric. However, I'm sure someone will correct me on at least one fact. The mention of GSS gets people pretty hot under the collar for many reasons.
