Last night at approx 1715Z, on Bordeax ATC, Ryanair heard requesting descent to FL220 for 'technical reasons' and immediate diversion to Perpignan, which was later changed to Girona via Perpignan. Ryanair pilot had Austrailian/NZ accent.

Anyone know any details and was everyone OK?

I don't think your correct.

There was an abnormal amount of urgency in the pilots voice, and the ATC controller didn't understand the pilots "request descent to FL220 due technical reasons" and I think it was the third request that eventually got the clearance to descend. Having got diversion to Perpignan, then reclearance for Girona via Perpignan the pilot told ATC "no technical assistance required".

None of this would one expect on a routine scheduled flight, I would have thought.
