hi guys and girls

about mid-way between ppl and cpl and prepping to start knocking on doors.

i was wondering what past exeriences others had when going for a check flight with a prospective employer.

is it as strict as a commercial flight test?

do they all charge you for the flight test, and if yes, how much are they? (i.e. is it at full hire & fly rates?, or do they do it at 'cost' price?)

any help would be appreciated. cheers.

I didn't realise anybody charged you a fee for doing a check ride.

you won't have to pay for the checkride (at least you shouldn't)
if you get that far in the recruitment process, you should get it for free.

more importantly, make sure you'll get that far first.
be completely up to speed with your theory, research the company - what they fly and where they go, and try to get to know some of the staff without being obnoxious.

probably the best advice i can give is pick a spot where there's not too much (pilot) opposition, and just let it be known that you're there till they need you. (that may be a year or more).
if you know of a place, try to get some time in the type of planes they fly so you're heading in the right direction when you do get that checkride.

then again, you may just get lucky, and they need someone the day after you arrive, and you're the only one there.

being there is better than your resume being there.
