I have very little flying experience (2 hours) and am desparate to gain my PPL with a view to gaining a career as a pilot - pls can someone advise on the best way to do this - i.e. the cheapest, i hear you can save a lot of money by going to South Africa or the USA- is this correct.
Also any input on which airlines its worth contacting for sponsorship would be great.
Thanks

Hi
Ive just fininshed my PPl here in Johannesburg, Sa and I have to say the training was excellent. Superior Pilot Services in Grand Central - they are really the only school I would recommend for PPl and hour building. Do not get into the trap of doing the CPL here as its very difficult to convert to JAA and you wont get a job here.
Hope this helps and if you need any more info on flying in SA please pm me.
Ciao

There are some sponsership schemes running at the moment although sponsered means "you pay some" or "they pay all and your bonded"
CTC Wings

Flybe 2005

Thats all i know, good luck, I am giving them a go.

Take a look at the Air League.
http://www.airleague.co.uk/
They offer flying bursaries.
