Sometimes small shows knock the spots off larger, more established shows - Sywell certainly did that.

The event was very well organised and featured the best airshow food I've sampled all season. All in all it was well worth the 240 mile round trip from Croydon.

Rather than go on about the flying, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Thanks to everyone who made this a great show for the spectators.

Rob

Awesome pictures! You are very good with the camera. I agree that often times small airshows are superior to the big ones. I think there is a bigger sense of involvement and community. It's less of a purely spectator event. It also really helps remind us how unique and fun even everyday aviation is. Sometimes when I'm at the airport I look around and think how lucky I am. to me every time I go flying I'm at a little airshow. I guess I'm not jaded yet because just seeing one of the stearmans based here fly by, or a pc-12 take off, makes my day.

Beautiful pictures Rob !

Thanks for letting us see what's flying in your part of the world.

A question please. What type of aircraft is 'IMG_9044' ? I don't think I've seen anything like it before.

It's the last remaining Mew Gull, a racing / long distance aeroplane from the Thirties.

Rob.

Great pictures as usual.

I love the shot of the Twin Pioneer and the side shot of the Mustang in the sunset.
Any chance you might be able to send me these two pictures attached to an email.
I have tried to download them but they have come out a bit fuzzy.

Peter.

Is it G-AEXF, Alex Henshaws record breaking plane?

DeepC, it is indeed, the only survivor so far as I can recall.

Thrice rebuilt, I think it looked better after the Storey/Barraclough endeavour which restored it to original Percival spec.

A subsequent rebuild for Des Penrose saw it reconfigured to the Henshaw spec - not as attractive, but true to history!

A lovely aeroplane, sounds great! Hope it appears (with the Arrow Active) at a show I'm at next year. Back to their old hom,e at Shuttleworth perhaps?

Great pics Rob!
